Mike Hauschild threw 5 no-hit innings today for Quad Cities against Beloit. He walked 2 and struck out 5.

Unfortunately, the Snappers have the bases loaded on Colton Cain to start off the 6th. Quad Cities leads 1-0.

Roster move: The system's top mustache is headed to Lancaster.

.....and a crappy day in the system gets even crappier. Delino DeShields has left the Lancaster game early and he's been replaced at 2B by Jean Carlos Batista. No word on whether he's been injured, and the Jethawks are down a TD to Rancho Cucamonga right now.

    Looks like just precautionary measures.

OKC and Lancaster will be starting up at 1 this afternoon. Corpus and QC have the day off.

Brett Oberholtzer will get the start for OKC against Fresno's Chris Heston, while Kyle Hallock and Luis Cruz will go for Lancaster. Their opponent for Rancho will be James Campbell.

Wojo served up 3 homers last night. He allowed 3 home runs all of 2012, and 1 in his last 134.2 innings.

Telvin Nash 4 freaking strike outs.

On a positive note Brett Olberholtzer another masterful start, trying to regain his place in line amongst the pitching prospects

If I believed in jinxes, I would say I jinxed him when I was surprised his strikeouts were relatively down this season.

    Tuesday Stories

Two day games, but there was no shortage of fireworks from OKC and Lancaster today!

Not wanting to be left out, Brett Oberholtzer had a very fine outing.

As for Lancaster, it was a typical game at The Hangar.... with dramatics.

    Oklahoma City 15, Fresno 2

The Redhawks drew even in the series by storming out of the gate with 5 in the 1st... then they just poured it on in the 8th, as they dropped a dime in the inning. They gave the Grizzlies 2 consolation runs in the bottom of the 9th.

Everyone had a hit except for Che-Hsuan Lin, who had an RBI groundout in the 8th, drew a walk, and scored. Everyone had an RBI except for Cody Clark, who was 1-4 with a double and a run scored. Everyone scored a run. Everyone drew a walk except for Brett Wallace and Brandon Laird.

The 5 runs in the 1st came off 3 RBI doubles from Wallace, Laird, and Fernando Martinez. The inning was capped with a 2-run single by Austin Wates. The 10 in the 8th came off a 2-run homer from Marc Krauss (8), 2 RBI singles from Jake Elmore and Andy Simunic with the bases loaded, then Redhawks First Baseman (who was playing 3B today) hit a grand slam. Brandon Laird then scored on a wild pitch, and Lin's groundout was the final run.

Elmore was 2-5. Simunic's single in the 8th was his only hit of the afternoon, and he scored twice. Both of Wallace's hits went for RBIs. He scored twice and also added a hat trick. Laird went 3-6 and scored twice. Martinez's double in the 1st was his lone hit, and he drew a walk and scored 3 times. Krauss's homer was his only hit of the day. Wates finished 2-4.

Pitching-wise, Brett Oberholtzer was dominant. He threw 7 shutout innings and allowed 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. Josh Zeid threw a 1-2-3 8th, and Jose Valdez gave the Grizzlies 2 runs (1 earned) in the 9th to thank their pitchers for helping the Redhawks offense.

Ross Seaton will be on the hill tomorrow night, and he'll be opposed by Shane Loux. First pitch will be at 7:05 Pacific.

    Corpus Christi was off

The Hooks will welcome the Northwest Arkansas Naturals to Whataburger Field for a 3-game series beginning at 7:05 tomorrow.

Carlos Quevedo and Jake Buchanan will take the mound to face Yordano Ventura. Ventura signed with the Royals for $28,000 (see how important the international signing period is???) and his velocity has jumped exponentially since signing. He's 5'11", 185, so the Pedro Martinez comparisons have been tossed around. Ventura is the #3 prospect in the Royals' system.

    Lancaster 13, Rancho Cucamonga 12

What a wild and wacky game. Just another day in the California League. The Jethawks avoided the sweep as Preston Tucker played hero in the bottom of the 9th, with an RBI single.

The Quakes rocked Kyle Hallock for 5 in the 1st, but the Jethawks responded with 4 in the bottom of the inning and 1 in the 2nd to tie the game. Lancaster failed to score in the 3rd, the 5th, and the 7th. And while after Rancho got to Hallock early, he stopped the bleeding, throwing 4 scoreless after that. The Quakes touched up Luis Cruz and Jonas Dufek for 3 in the 6th and 7th, and one more in the 8th.

Everyone had a hit except for Telvin Nash, who walked, scored a run, and... had a golden sombrero (2). Tyler Heineman had an RBI groundout when he entered the game in the 8th as a pinch-hitter. Andrew Aplin was 3-6 with 2 doubles and a 2-run homer (4) in the 1st. His double in the 6th also drove in 2. His 38 RBI leads all of Class A Advanced.

Joe Sclafani went 3-5 with a double and 2 runs scored. He's now on a 9-game hitting streak and his average with the Jethawks is now .405. Carlos Perdomo had a nice day, as he went 3-5 with 3 runs scored, an RBI groundout in the 2nd which tied the game at 5, and a sac fly in the 4th. Matt Duffy had an RBI single in the 6th, while Chris Epps was 2-5 with 2 doubles, one of which drove in 2 in the 1st. The other one was a garden-variety RBI double in the 8th. Preston Tucker finished 4-6 with 2 runs scored, a triple, an RBI single in the 6th, and the game-winner in the 9th.

Hallock made it through 5 innings with those 5 in the 1st being the only runs he allowed. 4 were earned. He allowed 7 hits (3-run homer), walked 2, and struck out 2. Luis Cruz didn't have it today, as he allowed 5 runs (1 inherited) on 3 hits (solo homer), walked 3, and struck out 2 in 1 1/3. He was off the hook after the Jethawks took a 10-8 lead after the 6th. Jonas Dufek went 1 2/3 and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and struck out 2. Travis Ballew kept the game tied at 12 with a 1-2-3 9th, striking out 2.

After that, the Jethawks will have tomorrow off, and then Inland Empire will come to The Hangar for 3 big ones starting Thursday at 7 Pacific. The Jethawks currently trail the 66ers by 1 in the Cali League South.

    Quad Cities was off

They will welcome Wisconsin to Modern Woodmen Park for 3 beginning tomorrow at 7. Jordan Jankowski and Brian Holmes will take on Damien Magnifico and Leonard Lorenzo.

    Three Stars

    3.

    Andrew Aplin, CF, Lancaster
    3-6, 2 2B, 2-R HR (4), 4 RBI, 2 R

That .263 average belies an extremely productive season from Aplin. His fortunes should change soon. I think he could be the everyday CF in Corpus by the middle of July.

    2.

    Preston Tucker, RF, Lancaster
    4-6, walk-off 1B, 3B, 2 RBI, 2 R

He's been in a bit of a lull power-wise, but Tucker is starting to get himself going again with a 6-game hit streak. Very consistent performances this month.

    1.

    Brett Oberholtzer, P, Oklahoma City
    W (3-3), 7 IP, 3 H, BB, 9 K

Oberholtzer has pitched extremely well this month. Interestingly, he's pitched better on the road this season. He got his cup of coffee... it looks like he wants to come back for seconds.

    Honorable Mentions

Brett Wallace, 1B, Oklahoma City: His Last Judgment should come after Jonathan Singleton makes his way to OKC.

Joe Sclafani, SS/2B, Lancaster: Outdoing Nolan Fontana at his own game. Really seizing the opportunity since Fontana was shelved.

Carlos Perdomo, SS/2B, Lancaster: Easily the best game he's had all season.

Travis Ballew, P, Lancaster: Think he gets the call to Corpus sometime this year?

Kyle Hallock, P, Lancaster: Excellent job of limiting the damage after he got knocked around to start the game.

Telvin Nash will still have days like these. I'm just glad it's not on a regular basis.

How's Correa looking in general? Did we make a mistake in passing up Buxton? I find myself more engaged in the farm system than in the Astros thanks to tellitlikeitis. Thanks!

Correa's doing fine. He's not setting the Midwest League ablaze, but he's done extremely well, considering that he's the 3rd-youngest player in the league. Started off slowly. I think weather certainly played a part. With all the rainouts, I'd imagine that it would be pretty hard to establish a rhythm at the plate.

He just had a 10-game hitting streak snapped yesterday, and it's just the 2nd time this month that he didn't get a hit. He spent some time on the DL this month after he got hit on the hand by a pitch. Guess it soreness and some bruising.

Correa's approach at the plate has been tremendous. The power will come with time. He has exceeded all expectations so far.

I loved the pick then and I still really, really like it.

More Correa: Correa's 15% walk rate is way above the Midwest League average of 9.1%. He's still hitting a lot of groundballs (54%, MWL average: 46%). After striking out 27% of the time to open the season, he's cut his K rate in half this month. Only 1 extra-base hit in May, though. Like I said, his power will come with time. He roped quite a few doubles in his debut last half-season. I've said this a few times, but I'll say it again: As the weather warms up, his numbers should go up along with it.
