Friday Stories Piggybackers were blasted. Swept. Recap New Orleans 10, Oklahoma City 8 in 15 innings OKC was on the verge of losing 6-1 in 9 innings, but they put up 5 in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game and forced extra innings. The Zephyrs regained the lead with 2 in the 13th, only to see the Redhawks re-tie it with 2 in the bottom half. However, Lance Day gave up 2 more in the 15th, and OKC went quietly in the bottom half to end it. Everyone that appeared in the game for the Redhawks had at least one hit. Even Raoul Torrez went 1-5 with a run scored. This was his AAA debut, as he replaced Jake Elmore in the 9th. His single sparked the 9th-inning rally. Jonathan Villar was 2-8, but his singles tied the game twice. The first was an RBI single in the bottom of the 9th and the other drove in both runs in the 13th. Jimmy Paredes was 3-6 with 2 walks. Marc Krauss (2-6, 2 R), Andy Simunic (3-7), and Cody Clark (2-7, 4 K) all had RBI singles in the 9th. Simunic drove in 2. Brett Wallace and Trevor Crowe both doubled. Jarred Cosart was roughed up in his 4 1/3 innings of work, as he allowed 6 runs (5 earned, 5 in the 1st, 1 inherited) on 5 hits (3-run homer), walked 4, and struck out 2. Kyle Hallock inherited the bases loaded from Cosart and allowed 1 to score. Otherwise, no other runs crossed, and no runs were charged to him in his 1 2/3 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 1. Josh Zeid allowed a hit and struck out 1 in the 7th, and Wes Musick had a strikeout in a 1-2-3 8th. Kevin Chapman came on for 2 2/3, walking 1 and striking out 3. Jose Valdez pitched 2 1/3, allowing his first 2 runs of the season in the 13th, when Matt Downs hit a 2-run shot off of him. Lance Day lost the game in the 15th, allowing a 2-run, 2-out triple. He allowed 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 in 2 innings. Game 2 pits Dallas Keuchel and Ross Seaton against Doug Mathis. First pitch is at 7:05. Midland 6, Corpus Christi 0 Sloppy night as the Hooks committed 3 errors. Rene Garcia and Carlos Perez each had 2 hits. R.J. Alaniz went 3 2/3 and allowed an unearned run 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. Jorge De Leon allowed a hit in 1 1/3 scoreless. Matt Heidenreich's struggles continued, as he was tagged for 5 runs (3 earned) on 6 hits (solo homer) in 2 1/3. He walked 1 and fanned 3. Andrew Robinson got the last 2 outs of the 8th, striking out 1. The Hooks will now travel to Frisco, as they begin a 3-game set with the Roughriders. Carlos Quevedo and Jake Buchanan will take the mound, and they will take on Ryan Feierabend. First pitch is at 7. Lake Elsinore 9, Lancaster 8 The Jethawks couldn't get the sweep. They had 2 rallies; one of which tied the game, and one that fell just short. Telvin Nash was 1-5 with his 1st homer of the year, a solo shot in the 2nd to put them up 1-0. He only struck out once. Tyler Heineman, in his first game off the DL, went 4-4 with a double and scored a run. Carlos Perdomo was 1-3 with 2 runs scored. Lake Elsinore responded with 4 off Aaron West in the 4th. West was knocked out in that inning, and he finished 3 1/3, allowing those 4 runs on 9 hits and fanning 2. Jonas Dufek finished out the inning, walking 2 and getting both of his outs via strikeout. T.J. Geith struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 5th. The Jethawks tied it in the top of the 7th with a 2-run double from Nolan Fontana, who came around to score one batter later, thanks to Andrew Aplin's double. Fontana finished 3-4, adding a walk in addition to his good 7th inning. As for Aplin, that was his only hit of the game. The tie didn't last long, however. Luis Cruz struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 6th, but the wheels fell off after stretch time, as the Storm battered him for 5 in the bottom of the inning. He allowed those 5 runs on 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. Tom Shirley picked up the pieces, walking 1 and striking out 1 in 1 1/3 scoreless. The Jethawks got 4 in the top of the 9th; problem was, they needed at least 5. Matt Duffy had an RBI single, Preston Tucker a 2-run single. Nash reached on an error allowing Duffy to score. However, Chris Epps grounded out to end it. Lancaster will now face Inland Empire in a home-and-away series. The Jethawks host the 66ers this weekend for 3, and on Tuesday, the 66ers will host them for 3. Blair Walters appears to be Mike Foltynewicz's new partner. They get the start for the Jethawks at 7 Pacific. Their opponent is Pat Lowery. Lansing 6, Quad Cities 2 Not much in the way of offense for the River Bandits. Ryan Dineen was involved with both runs, as he scored on a wild pitch from Roberto Osuna (one of 4 that he threw) in the 5th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. Carlos Correa was 0-5 with a golden sombrero. His average has now dropped below the Mendoza Line, at .211. Jordan Jankowski went 5 innings and allowed a run (on a solo homer) on 6 hits and struck out 3. Brian Holmes didn't fare too well in his 2+ innings, as he allowed 3 runs (1 inherited) on 3 hits (solo homer), walked 1, and fanned 2. He left without recording an out in the 8th. Mike Dimock allowed the runner he inherited from Holmes to score, then allowed 2 of his own on 2 hits, walking 1 and fanning 1. Cameron Lamb finished it out, allowing a hit and walking 1 in the top of the 9th. Vince Velasquez and Joe Bircher will take the hill for QC in the middle game of this series. Lansing will send out Daniel Norris, the #8 prospect in the Blue Jays' system. He turned 20 yesterday. First pitch is at 7.
More bad news on the pitching front: Brian T. Smith (@ChronAstros): [Rudy] Owens suffered a stress fracture in his left foot. Will have surgery Monday in Houston. Will return to game action in 4-5 months. Yeah, so... Wandy trade not looking too hot, with the exception of Robbie Grossman.

Do you see him getting the call to High-A this season? They might want to keep it safe since its his first full season since the TJ surgery
That's a question better served for Subber, haha. My opinion... I think he could be there somewhere between the end of June and the middle of July. He'll be one of the 5 starters when the organization returns to the traditional rotation approach in QC.
So basically you think he'll move up once the lower level leagues start playing and we start signing some draft picks? And yeah subber is the medical genius lol, I don't really know how long it takes to be fully recovered from TJ surgery
Just asked him a moment ago. WTHB says yes. Subber erred more on the cautious side; he thinks Velasquez will be up if injuries necessitate his presence in Lancaster. He probably wouldn't rush him a year off Tommy John surgery. I forget that Velasquez won't be 21 until June. He's 5 weeks older than me.
Thanks. Yeah I expected subber to go for the cautious side considering he should know about that stuff pretty well. Also what do you mean by he will be up if injuries necessitate his presence in Lancaster?
No, that was on me. Tried to get too clever. Even I thought that didn't sound right after re-reading it
