McDonald to sign with Astros Reports surfaced Saturday that East Carolina’s Chase McDonald will sign with the Houston Astros, the team that drafted the Pirate slugger on June 8. Houston selected McDonald, a former J.H. Rose standout, with the first pick of the 12th round, 347th overall. McDonald, a junior, led ECU in home runs (11), RBIs (46) and slugging percentage last season. He batted .299 in 53 starts.
It looks like Chris Munnelly, a RHP from North Carolina, signed as a free agent last Monday. 2013: 22 appearances (8 starts, was a part of 2 shutouts), 6-0, 1 save, 2.39 ERA, 60.1 IP, 36 H (3 home runs), 16 ER, 27 BB, 63 K, 1.05 WHIP, .172 opponent average

Officially a Houston Astro! Word on the street is that Kent Emanuel will sign late, by the July 12th deadline. Emanuel logged serious innings at UNC, so I suspect the Astros will give him light duty for the remainder of the season, after he signs.
Yes, I read this site first and then orange whoopass. Thanks for your time and effort. Orange Whoopass is worth the follow.
Interestingly we offered Wil Crowe $1.2M to be drafted in the 10th round, which he turned down. http://www.goupstate.com/article/20130630/ARTICLES/130639983

Crowe passes on MLB offers to play for Gamecocks | http://t.co/hfqDCwmbpP http://t.co/tWIA4DEqzd
— Mr. Crawfish (@CrawfishBoxes) July 1, 2013

We offered him roughly the 44th pick (early 2nd round) slot money and he wanted 1.7 million which was 31th pick (late 1st compensation round)
I'm shocked he passed up that much bread the burden will be on him to perform in college to get back to that position in the draft
I'd have rather had him than Emanuel (our 2nd rounder). Seems like Nicely + German was the backup plan with $1.2M.
Emanuel was our 3rd rounder. Thurman was the second rounder who the Astros considered a first round guy.
