Probably wasn't the best of ideas to give a guy with exactly 0 coaching experience a head coaching job.
Well color me surprised the Brooklyn Nyets were this bad, I thought they would be the one who would come out of t he gate swinging in the East, not the Pacers. They're all stars/former stars but KG and AK are pretty much super role players anyway, and they should've provided the backbone D and rebounding needed behind the scoring of Joe Johnson, Pierce, D-Will and Brooks. Looking at them play now though, D-Will and Brooks have not played like stars...they barely look better than role players at this point and they have been dragging the team down, esp. since Kidd is a rookie coach who does not have the X-n-Os chops at this level and so he isn't any help either.
How old are some of these geezers anyways? I never thought for one second they would be a scary team.
D-Will had probably the shortest "prime" ever. He started making a case for top point guard in like 2009 and stopped when he got to New Jersey is 2011. He has been considered a top point guard the last few years when he really hasn't been close. He puts all NBA games every once in awhile and puts good averages but he hasn't played the dominant game we Rockets fans saw in the 2007 and 2008 playoffs. Couple his decline with aging KG, Pierce, and Johnson and you'll have problems especially if you're counting on them night in and out. Lopez is the only one in his prime and he can't even get 7 rebounds a game as a 7 footer. Chuck Hayes averaged more rebounds and he is 6'6". And furthermore, I don't like their bench. Blatche, Evans, even Terry and Kirilenko are so one dimensional. Don't even start with their decision to hire Kidd.
That roster would have been very scary in 2009! In 2009, Williams was actually competing for best point guard with Nash and CP3, Johnson was only slightly overrated but still averaged 24/5/5, Pierce was still The Truth, KG was a perennial DPoTY candidate, Terry was Rockets Killer #1 and one of the Top 6th, and Jason Kidd was still a good point guard lol. Key word is was though. Haha
There's only 1 ball guys. Players like Pierce, D Will, and Lopez all want touches. Terry and KG can accept their roles (6th man and Defensive presence) but D Will is a ball dominant player, Pierce is a ball dominant player, and Lopez is an all offensive Center so of course he NEEDS the ball to be successful. AK47 is getting paid in Mother Russia so he does not matter. This team was built with pieces that do not fit together (much like buying a corvette engine for a nissan versa). Of course the head coaching position is terrible. You might try Kidd with like a Phoenix Suns or Philly 76ers squad where there is time to develop, but reality is Kidd should have started off as an assistant. IF and only IF D Will, Pierce, and Lopez can figure out the ball touches fairly and accept it, will they see some success. Good Luck (Taken Voice)
Give em 5 more games. It's surprising though, a veteran team like theirs should have an easier time gelling than a team like ours

The funny thing is this was the one teams people were saying had a better off season than the Rockets. Rockets will only get better after this year and will not have to pay 100 M to do it. Nets on the other hand have no picks, young players, cap flexibility or future. Another reason why Morey should be GM of the year hands down.
