In this case, shouldn't you make one more wish that Spurs lose 3 times on the row after the ASW? In fact, very possible "L"s. Feb 18 VS Clippers Feb 19 VS Blazers Feb 21 VS Suns We can be the 2nd seed as early as next Friday night....
guys I love all the optimism on this thread, it's welcome because posters are usually negative but let's not count our chickens before the eggs our hatched. It's still possible to fall to a lower seed.
Lol, that was the point I mentioned in the other thread and people want me to enjoy the recent wins, so just try to bring some more to cheer about
It's nice and all, but the playoffs don't start until April. So does it matter a whole lot what seed you are in February?
The 3 division winners are guaranteed a top 4 seed in the 1st round of the playoffs. The non-divisional team with the best record gets the other top 4 seed. OKC, SA & LAC are the division leaders. We're tied with Portland for the other top 4 seed, but have the tie breaker with them. We are also percentage points ahead of LAC. So we're the 3rd seed, LAC (division leader) 4th & Portland 5th. If the playoffs started today, Portland would play LAC, but have home court advantage due to a better record percentage wise.
We have 8 tough games left, 5 of those at home. Lets say we lose all 8 and drop 4 random games that we should have won. 12 more losses puts us at 53-29. This is kind of my worst case scenario and that puts us at about 5th place. This is a good team. It's okay to say it. You won't jinx them by doing it and second place is about where we belong. Finally! after so many years of struggle!
I'm really happy we finally broke through that 5th seed barrier... I refuse to get carried away until we be the Lakers next week and San Antonio loses bringing us within 1 game.
That's why I would have been happier had Clippers lost tonight. Gaining two games over Clippers is more significant than remaining a game behind Portland. But I guess one could make the argument that the Rockets could go into ASG with a lot of momentum since not only did they keep the streak alive with a clutch play, but they also jump to 3rd seed in the conference.
GSW could miss the play-off if they lose some more games and Mem win a little more. Mem only trail by 1.5 games. LOL if that happens when Curry makes his first AS appearance.
