And he didn't even win with that "dream team" squad either. The supporting cast excuse doesn't hold anymore since Dirk was playing with a 38 year old Kidd, out of his prime Marion, 34 year old Terry. The only good player they had was Chandler. That is no worse than what Lebron had in Cleveland with Shaq, Varejao, Jamaison, Anthony Parker and Mo Williams. Bottom line is he can't win with a so called "crap supporting cast", and he can't win either with the "super friends cast".
What happened when you guaranteed that the Bulls would beat the Heat? You never paid up on that bet (and you never bet on the mavs btw). But yeah, I'll take whatever bet you want to take on the Heat - Vegas would too. The have them as overwhelming favorites.
such a shame, all that talent, all that pure athleticism, all the natural ability...and no ounce of a killer instinct, no will to be the best player you could ever be, no effort to put winning above anything else. Dude is a freakish athlete and has possibly unlimitless talent and upside, but will only win a championship if Wade takes him there. Is that a bad thing, it is if your the self proclaimed King of the NBA, no heart when it comes down to it, means your no King at all.
This. Lakers/Spurs/Mavs have declined. OKC and CHI are still a little inexperienced with adversity in the playoffs. Right now these guys seem hungry and determined and with a shortened season this might be their best chance at a ring.
Yeah, he lost in their first year together. They had a VERY STRONG 1-3 and a very weak 4-12. But they lost because he played like garbage. That one is all on him. Dirks supporting cast is better than what LeBron had in Cleveland, and they definitely PLAYED better. How did Kidd, Marion, JJ and Jet shoot in the postseason? Do you realize Stevenson shot over 50% in the Finals, and 90% of his shots were 3 pointers?
apollo33 Go look up Terrys numbers from last postseason and compare them to how Mo Williams played in the playoffs as a Cav. Then try not to laugh.
My opinion: 1. Bosh was the only constant of big three in the finals 2. This is planed PR stuff to clear LBJ's image 3. MJ would have won with Wade and Bosh 4. Lebron is the best player in NBA, just worse in the clutch 5. If Wade was designated to step up in the clutch, Heat wins last year
and thats why I think they'll win this year. This team is battle tested now and their competitors are too old or not as experienced in the playoffs. I dont see them reeling of 2 or 3 but they definitely look like the leading title favorite right now Haslem is back healthy, Battier provides some stability in the locker room as well.
So I guess you missed Wade have a game ending turnover, miss the game tying free throw and his Game 6 performance (granted, he was hurt)? Not to say Bron didn't play like garbage, but Wade had a few GOAT moments himself. And don't get me started on the ECF's.
No, I didn't miss that. That's why I wrote "designated". Since James was the man to do it, Wade just played along. And that was not his thing.
Isn't it a bit early in the season for such a self-assessment? Sounds more like a personal knee-jerk reaction to his own performance after one game. I'm not a LeBron hater or anything (he's a great player), and I'm not saying his statement won't prove itself to be true over the course of the season...but I have to question the mentality behind making such a comment -- no matter who it comes from at this point in the season, especially regarding their own play. I dunno. There are a lot of ways we can interpret what others say, but still...
How old was mutumbo when he was a serious contributor on the rockets? Was he averaging 30-10? How many sidekicks in the leage average 30-10? Would a Shaq at that have helped the rockets cause last year? Please.. A good team shouldn't need 2 HOF caliber players in their peak. It's ridiculous. This cavs squad won over 60 games that year. That is not a languishing superstar in despair without hope, ok? They could have won it all. Anyways, LBJ can still grow up. Nobody is perfect but he's been annoying in a number of ways, some of it not of his own creation but his idiot friends and their marketing machine.
Every year is the year of the king. You all get back to your ****ty lives, meanwhile, I'm the King and I'll do and say what I want. ALL HAIL TO ME!!
I agree with you completely. All the excuses people try to make for one of the best basketball players of this era, it's ridiculous. The one caveat is that the heat will most likely put it together and win within the next 3 years, if not this year (barring a severe injury to Bron or Wade). But what's fun is it now? "we won the championship... It took a lot of hard work... But we're the best...". Look at your team you a-hole! How can you NOT win? It's like using god-mode in a video game.. What fun is that? You have, what, 4 Olympic team athletes and the rockets have... Well we have a HOF coach...
Did we win a Championship with Mutombo? Did we do anything worth noting with Mutombo? Last time I checked LeBron went further with Shaq than Houston did with Mutombo. Bringing up Shaq as to LeBron having help is flatout laughable.
Exactly. And bringing up Shaq would be like saying T-mac had help because he played with Patrick Ewing and Shawn Kemp.
