no championship is tainted. except for the lakers 2002 because the kings should have won that series if not for the refs.
Different sport - The NFL in 1987 had a PLAYER'S strike that shortended the season. And teams had full on REPLACEMENT players, and those replacements games results COUNTED on team's W-L record. San Fran was called the "Phoney 9'ers." Thats as much an asterisk year as anything, but there's little to no mention of putting an asterisk to the champion Redskins that year. (Part of it also, you gotta be bold to discredit the Doug Williams 1st black QB to win a Super Bowl achievement). Still, everyone is getting PAID like there's no asterisk so it all counts.
Exactly. But, it doesn't matter in the end. Lebron will win many championships. This year will just be one of many.
^Lol at this guy again anointing the Heat as the champs already. Didn't learn his lesson last year. Arrogance will be your biggest downfall.
Why? Cleveland should be proud to have him. Such a small market and fans that are bitter.... not a good combination.
BS copout made up by fans for popular teams that lost stars to injury. if you win you WIN because this crap wouldnt be said if boozer got injured instead of rose
to be honest, the only thing that would count as a tainted title would be if for example the winning team turned out in the future to be blowing up the salary cap through some dodgy accounting. You'd need to actually cheat.
I thought the argument was that it was tainted due to the shortened season. When not everyone plays the same schedule, there's at least an argument to be made for that. Lots of people here called the '99 championship tainted for years. Could be just Spur hate, but I don't think that's the case with Phil.
I thought that the Heat would win this year too for sure before the playoffs started, but after watching the Spurs and Thunder in the first round, it looks like any one of those three teams could win it this year.
I think it'd only be tainted if one of the Miami Big 3, KD/Westbrook, Kobe/Pau/Bynum or Duncan/Parker/Manu get injured and therefore their team loses their shot at a title.
you don't get why Phil would call the 94, 95 and 99 championships tainted? Think about it a second, it'll come to you.
Tainted it's not. With the shortened season, the teams should be more "energetic" than the usual full season.
