2-3 format is dumb its only this year though, basically they couldnt get it into the CBA until late and the tv schedules were already set up and so they went with that.

it will be changed next year, but yea..dumb. selig is a joke

i give the protest about .1% chance of being granted to the braves. no way the MLB does it there. the umps are never held accountable, bud wont start doing that now.

also if they really wanted to be hip/relevant they'd implement wide spread replay, most everyone wants that, yet he doesnt do that. so he tweaks **** no one wants tweaked (seriously ASG determines homefield?) selig...smh

I agree that there is little to no chance that the protest is upheld, but I think the biggest reason is just timing. If it is upheld, they would probably have to come back tomorrow in the early afternoon. That decision would just open MLB up to a new round of criticism. For them, it's just easier to let it go, take their medicine now and move on.

Congrats to Baltimore! Put your beer goggles on!

    Nice season ending collapse Texas.

93 wins and counting for Baltimore. Incredible.

Also incredible, the Orioles are now 75-0 this season after 7 innings when they have the lead.

And Buck Showalter says take that Texas! :p

Someone check on Nolan. Or not.

And then there is sad Rangers fan

What an epic choke job by the Rangers. Take that Nolan Ryan and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Will Nolan go cry to his buddy Bud Selig for a do over now ? Thats what you get for whining for the Astros to get moved to the american leaGUE.

Packers fans are feeling the Braves fans' pain. It's been a past couple months of questionable controversial calls by referees, umpires, and judges in all sports.

What a choke job by the Rangers. To lose the division in the last series vs the A's...to have to play in a Wild Card game....and to have the offense fail.

    Cowboys suck....Rangers choked....Mavs?

Stupid one game "playoff" game. Congrats on finishing 6 games ahead of the Cardinals. Here is 1 game to see who is better. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. And I hate the Braves.

Why the hell isn't the infield fly rule if you don't catch it, every player advances one base? That way you protect the runners, and actually give a reason for the defense to do their job. There has never been such an obvious rule change that has gone so long without being discussed.

MLB needs fresh blood at the top.

The Red Sox have traded for Blue Jays Manager John Farrell. (Farrell the former Red Sox pitching coach from '07-'10.) In return, the Blue Jays get utility infielder Mike Aviles. Red Sox will also receive RP David Carpenter.

In news last night, the Marlins traded Heath Bell to Arizona, who traded CF Chris Young to Oakland for infielder Cliff Pennington and infielder Yordy Cabrera, in which Arizona flipped Cabrera to Miami for Bell.

Yeah. Marlins traded for Ozzie Guillen last year I believe. Well I guess they aren't technically traded. Teams receive compensation for letting them out of their contracts.

In the NFL, they can trade coaches just like the Raiders traded Jon Gruden to the Buccaneers for some draft picks.

Yeah it works in all sports. It is compensation for the original team to waive the rest of the contract which typically has a sort of non-compete clause. In fact, Rockets had to give up some picks to get Van Gundy I believe.
