Hey dudes. Before you know it, spring training will be here. So now is the time to start getting into that baseball mindset once again. I'd like to know as soon as possible if I need to do any recruiting for this league, so please confirm that you will be coming back. Also, I paid for league renewal at the end of last season, so if you want to chip in your share now, it works out to about $6.50 USD each, which can be sent to my hotmail address via PayPal. This will be an interesting year because keeper restrictions are going to start kicking in. That means that either a lot of trading activity will occur, or else some damn good players are going to be released into the draft pool. I will post keeper info for each team shortly. Are you sure you don't want to change your mind? You've been a good owner and we'd hate to lose you. Everyone please respond as soon as you can. Thanks! Here is the keeper situation for each team heading into the 2012 season. To recap, there are 7 keeper slots. In order to be placed into a keeper slot, the number of times a player has been kept must be lower than the listed max number for each slot. Keeper Format: Slot A (indefinite) Slot B (4 max) Slot C (4 max) Slot D (3 max) Slot E (3 max) Slot F (2 max) Slot G (2 max) Keeper numbers for each player roll over as soon as the draft starts. Therefore, each player's keeper number must be below the listed max number going into the draft. The situation for each team is as follows. Any players currently on a team's roster that are not listed below can be said to have a keeper value of zero at this point. chrisjent Alex Rodriguez-3 Victor Martinez-3 Miguel Cabrera-3 Josh Johnson-3 Nelson Cruz-1 Dan Haren-1 Alexei Ramirez-1 LonghornFan Albert Pujols-3 Roy Halladay-3 Chris Carpenter-3 Jayson Werth-3 Ubaldo Jimenez-1 Andre Ethier-1 Rickie Weeks-1 LongTimeFan CC Sabathia-3 Prince Fielder-3 Jose Reyes-3 Ian Kinsler-3 Ryan Zimmerman-1 Mark Teixeira-1 Smeg Dustin Pedroia-3 Matt Holliday-3 Cliff Lee-3 Cole Hamels-3 Carlos Gonzalez-1 Justin Verlander-1 Shin Soo Choo-1 Rocketball Hanley Ramirez-3 Evan Longoria-3 Matt Kemp-3 Justin Upton-3 Jason Heyward-1 Dan Uggla-1 fadeaway Felix Hernandez-3 Ryan Braun-3 Troy Tulowitzki-3 David Wright-3 Josh Hamilton-1 Joey Votto-1 Brian McCann-1 PhiSlammaJamma Tim Lincecum-3 Clayton Kershaw-3 Roy Oswalt-1 Chase Utley-1 Jeremy Hellickson-1 Heath Bell-1 Dan Hudson-1 SamCassell Jon Lester-3 Joe Mauer-3 Kevin Youkilis-3 Carl Crawford-2 Adrian Gonzalez-1 Robinson Cano-1
Smeg and jent are both in. Only one out so far is LonghornFan. Still need to hear from LongTimeFan. Unfortunately, the e-mail listed for his team on the site is not valid. SamCassell (in) chrisjent (in) PhiSlammaJamma (in) Rocketball (in) LongTimeFan SmeggySmeg (in) fadeaway (in) LonghornFan (out)
Sorry for the late response. Yeah, I'm out. Just too much going on in the real world to play again. I have one money keeper league I've won twice in three years and that's the only one I'm playing. It was fun and thanks for everything Fade.
Sorry for the late response (No LHF). I think I'm going to have to sit out this season as well. I was in school before and able to commit (or waste, ha) a lot of time to fantasy sports and the like. Since I started working, I've just had no time for any of my leagues and I'm really out of touch with what's going on. Someone else would probably do a much better job managing my team than I would. Good luck, guys!
Welcome aboard, Flash! I know you'll be active from our experience in the BobFinn hoops league. Still one open team if anyone else is interested: LTF's Contract Year CC Sabathia-3 Prince Fielder-3 Jose Reyes-3 Ian Kinsler-3 Ryan Zimmerman-1 Mark Teixeira-1 Jose Bautista-0 Jose Valverde-0 etc.. Bear Bryant -- are you still interested?
If we started from scratch I would be down but that defies the whole "keeper" idea. Maybe next year but thanks for the email!
Both empty teams have been claimed and we now have 8 players confirmed, so we're good to go! The next step now is to get everyone paid up. Once that's done we can start determining the draft order, and then make any final keeper trades or decisions in the weeks leading up to the draft. It should be a great season! PhiSlammaJamma SmeggySmeg SamCassell Rook chrisjent fadeaway Flash21 CometsWin blue = paid red = unpaid For the newcomers, here is a synopsis of how this league works. Some of this info has been posted previously, but I will put it all here for convenience: League Site http://www.fantasybaseballsite.com/baseball/clutchcity/ League Fee Everyone chips in $6.50 each USD via PayPal to joshgillard@hotmail.com Draft The draft will start March 10th. It will be slow live with an initial timer of 6 hours per pick. Draft order is determined by schoolyard pick, with last year's worst-finishing team having first choice of draft position, progressing down the line, and last year's champion automatically getting the last chosen available position at the end. Keepers There are 7 keeper slots. Keeper Declaration Deadline Keepers must be formally declared by March 9th (the day before the draft starts). You are encouraged to declare them early -- you will have up until March 9th to change your mind. If keepers are not declared by March 9th, then I will declare them for you using my own judgment when I set up the draft. Trading Trading is encouraged, and draft picks may be included in trades. The only rule with trading draft picks is that the # of picks sent back and forth must be even (I.e. I can trade my 3rd and 4th round picks in exchange for someone's 1st and 7th round picks, but I cannot trade my 3rd and 4th round picks for someone's 1st round pick only). Trading a player resets that player's keeper number to zero. Trading is currently open now, and some teams are going to have to trade a player or two in exchange for something, or else release some good players back into the draft pool for nothing. Scoring The scoring system is fantasy points head-to-head. This scoring system is similar to most fantasy football leagues, and is much better than the crappy roto-based scoring used in most fantasy baseball leagues. Hitting Hits: 1 point Runs: 1 point Doubles: 1 point Triples: 2 points Home Runs: 3 points RBIs: 1 point Stolen Bases: 2 points Caught Stealing: -1point Walks: 1 point Strikeouts: -1 point Errors: -1 point Grand Slams: 3 points HBP: 1 point Pitching Innings Pitched: 3 points Hit Allowed: -1 point Walks Allowed: -1 point Strikeouts: 1 point Earned Runs: -1 point Wins: 10 points Losses: -5 points Saves: 10 points Blown Saves: -5 points Complete Games: 5 points Shutouts: 10 points No-Hitter: 20 points Perfect Game: 30 points Starting Lineups C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, CI, MI, UI, 5 OF, up to 7 pitchers Pitching Maximums This is one aspect of this league that is a bit different from most, but it adds an interesting dimension, I feel. Basically, instead of an overall innings cap, there is a set maximum number of games for Starting Pitchers (SP) and Relief Pitchers (RP). SP Max: 180 games RP Max: 140 games You can manage these games however you want throughout the year. For example, if you are facing a particularly tough division rival, you might want to start 6 SP + 1 RP against him. For a weaker opponent, maybe you can get by with starting 3 SP + 2 RP, etc... Overall, if you consistently start 4 SP + 2 RP each game period, you will hit the maximums at roughly the last game period of the season. I will periodically update the league on the number of SP and RP games used throughout the season. You can also determine this info yourself through the site. Game Periods We have a split week format, with 2 game periods each week running Mon-Thurs and Fri-Sun. You have until game time of the first scheduled game to set your lineup. Playoffs 4 teams make the playoffs: 2 division winners + 2 wild cards. First round of the playoffs is 2 game periods added together (1 week total). Championship round is 4 game periods added together (2 weeks total). SP limits for the playoffs are 9 games in the first round and 18 games in the championship round. There are no RP limits in the playoffs -- you simply plug RPs into whichever pitching slots you aren't starting any SPs in. The champion gets their name etched into Clutch Leagues fantasy sports history. I think that's about everything. If there is anything I have overlooked, or if you have any questions, please let me know!
PSJ: Untradeable: Kershaw 27.0 Strasburg 16.0 Must Trade: Nobody Low chance of Trade: If you need to get rid of someone good this might be a consideration. Lincecum 18.7 Utley 2.9 Possible Trade: Keeper type player available that could help you add depth and that you may need: 1B: Ortiz 3.2 RP: Rivera 9.2, Harahan 7.9, Bell 8.8 OF: Beltran 3.0 , Carbrera 3.0 , Pence 2.8 3B: Gordon 2.8 SP: Price 17.8, Husdon 18.1, Hellickson 17.4, Pineda 16.7
Yep. I'd say any pitcher over 17 is in the top 30 pitchers. And any position player over 3.0 is in the top 30 position players. If each of us keeps 7, then you theoretically you might want to keep or trade for someone in the top 56, unless your thin, then you maybe you gotta go a little deeper.
