Agreed, particularly when you consider how little time he has had to get acclimated to his teammates. When the Dyanmo brought in Costly, that was given as a reason why he didn't do much of anything for the first few weeks he was here. Boniek comes in, has three days of training with the team and he's already setting up scoring chances.
I did, too. Going to take a little time to get him in sync. He was bleeding a little too much towards the middle at times when they needed him out wide. Did very well with the ball and tracking back. I think he was clogging some lanes, though, that would have been meant for Bruin when Boniak wasn't out wide. It will come in time. The Philly goal should have never happened. Hall was clearly not ready for the half to start. It was right in front of us and he was totally flat footed. I think it was saveable. There weren't many chances on goal for either team but the Dynamo did well to control the pace. I was disappointed in Davis' free kicks. Most were eaten up by the keeper with little effort. Cory Ashe had a good game but I think he's just too small to play effectively long term in the back. Ching got his goal but he really could go ahead and announce his retirement. It's just not there any more. Overall, it was a good win but could have been better.
Nice job by the Dynamo to get a point on the road in Kansas City. I was hoping for three points coming off a disappointing draw earlier in the week against Chicago, but it's hard to complain about getting a point on the road against a team like SKC. While watching this game, I noticed something that I have noticed quite a bit before and that's announcers (in this case Eddie Robinson) referring to Andre Hainault as "Andrew." The thing about it is that his given name is Andre Robert Hainault. I don't know that I've ever seen someone go by a name longer than their given name. The other thing is that there is little to no consistency in what announcers call him. About half the time it's Andre and half the time it's Andrew. Just find it weird.
His first year with the team his name was always listed as Andrew and was later corrected to Andre. I don't know if he was going for a more Americanized version or if there was some sort of miscommunication but I guess some people got used to calling him Andrew.
I was also dissapointed we didn't get the three points. Maybe the new formation takes some time getting used to but Davis and bruin aren't getting the ball enough. I really would love to see warren c. Play ashe's position lb. He looks good subbing in for carmargo.Ashe was getting beat and Taylor was fixing his mistakes. I think there was to much long ball and not enough short simple passes,it looks like nobody wants to take on players except Obg ,Ashe,Kandji, and camargo.
John Spencer being fired from Portland today. I wonder if Dominic brings him back on the bench. He was on the staff for both titles and coached the reserves that won the 2008 Reserve Division title.
I think there will be another club like Toronto, Philadelphia, or even Dallas will offer him a head coaching job. The firing was a little unfair because the Timbers are currently fighting for that last playoff spot (5th place) in the West and are just 3 points behind. I also think Portland's ownership has put too much high expectations on Spencer and the Timbers players even though it's the franchise's 2nd year in MLS. Their biggest win was against their rival Seattle Sounders a few weeks ago and the worst defeat for them was against an amateur club in the early rounds of the U.S. Open Cup tournament.
Toronto and Philadelphia seem set with their head coaches for now. Mariner has enough power in Toronto to choose to stay as coach or go back to the front office.(Then I guess that's when they'd consider Spenny). Philly seems fine with Hackworth for now and I don't see FCD sacking Schellas because of this season.(Last season I blame injuries).
I think there's a chance that he ends up back in Houston as an assistant, if only because I think there's a chance that Steve Ralston gets a look from Portland. Maybe they'll be scared off of him because they went with a Dom Kinnear assistant in Spencer, but if that's not the case, I would be surprised if he doesn't at least get an interview. It will also help the Dynamo's chances to get him back as an assistant that you don't often see guys go from failing in their first crack at being a head coach to being a head coach for another team. I think Spencer will end up being a head coach again at some point, but I don't think it comes before he has another stint as an assistant somewhere.
Obviously Wondo and DeRo are the frontrunners for MVP but MLS.com mentions Will Bruin along with Henry, Cooper, Zusi and Beckerman as possible contenders
I wish to attend a Dynamo game. Seating recommendations and notice on ticket/drink prices are greatly appreciated.
It's gonna be a big week. This might decide if they are going to be playoff contenders. Hope for no rain on any of these games.
No Dynamo make the all-star team after I believe having the most players on the team last season I think Jermaine Taylor probably should have made it
That's a good thing because it gives the players more rest rather than play a meaningless game and I believe the All Star Game is on the same time as the 1st week of the CONCACAF Champions League and the Dynamo are in that tournament.
