Pretty much. He's the best of the bunch and the most electable in the general election. I'd vote for him over Obama. Seems Presidential, is moderate and willing to negotiate, and lots of experience as a diplomat and a governor... I can't figure out why he polls so low. He's like a less corrupt/sleazy version of Romney. People want someone other than Romney because of some of these qualities that Huntsman doesn't have. Like Batman, Huntsman isn't the candidate the GOP deserves, but he's the one they need.
I'm referring to the rhetoric of the GOP candidates on stage, who repeatedly called Israel our greatest ally.
Because the party has the same old Rove hacks running their national strategy. They run against everything Obama, which means away from any kind of moderation or centrist-ism and, 9/11! 9/11! 9/11! they demonize anything Muslim, which means toward pro-anything Israel. Since they can not possibly win the battle of the minds, they try to win the battle of the hearts ... or balls ... or limbic system. It's rigged for the lowest and scariest common denominator by the guys who direct the party and PAC money. They only want the low tax, reduced regulation and military industrial spending stuff anyway. The social rants are just a smokescreen for the Southern base.
Oh I agree 100% But it will be interesting to see if it affects his polling. His stance on immigration has brought down lesser candidates so we'll see. I guess Newt realizes the GOP has pretty much given up on the Hispanic vote and is doing what he can to at least appeal to them a small bit.
The places I would be looking at for early signs one way or another are the right wing poli-tainment complex (Limbaugh, Fox, National Review, Redstate.com, etc.). They seem to reflect and influence the mood of the GOP primary electorate and have served as a pretty good early warning system for the rise and fall of Perry and Cain. In other words, they are pretty much just like Daryl Morey.
That's it in a nutshell abuse, corruption, tainted food, blackballing, i.e. unregulated free markets run wild. Every Republicans fantasy is to return to the day when caveat emptor applied to every facet of your life, the meager comforts that we take for granted today would be gone with the wind and who really cares because life expectancy in this conservative wet dream was only like 45 years anyway.
Actually they don't exactly want to return to the Gilded Age as there wasn't a bloated military or a PATRIOT Act then. I think what many conservatives are looking for is 19th Century domestic policy with a Cold War military and paranoia.

These are the kinds of facts conservatives would hope to avoid and try hide with their propaganda and rhetoric.
The problem is there's no consensus as to what "average middle class family is" so both sides can say that all they want. The middle class in West Virginia, for instance, would probably be considered lower class where I live. People where I live, are on a national average, are upper middle class. But, property taxes and the cost of housing is expensive, so there disposable income percentage wise is not as high as upper middle class people in other areas, as such they consider themselves middle class.
And Trump is now going to moderate a Republican debate. And to make things better, it's hosted by Newsmax. I don't have anything witty to say here.
