N.Dakota caucus results begin---Santorum with an initial 14% lead. wow, this is like watching a car wreck in motion.
Pshhh... I'm proud of our state right now. I'm just pretending they voted for Mr. Googlethat to troll the GOP, not because they actually wanted him to be president. It is a nice fantasy. *fingers in ears* Lalala. Either way, it helps Obama's re-election.
If only... I just can't believe this is happening. If I remember correctly, no one thought W could win it either, right? Dragic!!!!!!
Romney might still pull Ohio out by the skin of his teeth thanks to the urban vote, but you have to think that this is a flat-out rejection of him by the base, who have probably shifted from electability, to hell, I don't even know.
If Santorum wins Ohio, this race is officially a mess - maybe even without winning it. Look at the upcoming schedule: http://www.2012presidentialelectionnews.com/2012-republican-primary-schedule/ There is NOTHING there until April 28 for Romney. Of course, he'll dominate on April 28th, but that might be too late. 13 elections between now and then, and I don't think a single one is really a Romney stronghold.
Based on what John King is saying, Romney will definitely take Ohio. Two large counties yet to officially report significantly favor Romney. He should win by 10,000 to 20,000 votes.
how the **** are people voting for santorum? I don't understand how you can run on a bunch of loony and still gain votes.
So Romney did win Ohio. That was an all-nighter. But Super Tuesday ends up being a huge win for Romney.
Well, on the one hand, you have people who really want to let their freak flag fly and want to just shout out "Hey, I LOVE santorum! bring it on! Woooooo!" But mostly, I think it's people admitting (in the privacy of a voting booth) that they love the values and priorities from which santorum emerges.
Don't forget Romney's repeated gaffes that alienated him from his base like: "I'll bet you $10,000" "Lots of friends of mine are NASCAR owners" "My wife owns a few Cadillacs" etc. etc. You could run Barney Fife out there out there, and the folks Middle America and the South would vote him over Romney. They just don't connect with Romney at all. Just look at the Ohio results - Romney outspent the group 5-1, yet got his ass handed to him in all of the rural counties.
And, with Baqui99, of all people, responding this way to one of my santorum posts... the circle is complete. I can retire now.
It was a huge win in delegates, but not really in narrative. Romney did nothing to dispell the concerns about him, and Santorum did reasonably well in a lot of places. Even Ohio is being portrayed as "Romney barely squeaked by" rather than "Romney wins a competitive race". The next several contests are southern / midwestern, which should drag this until April 24th, at the least. Barring some upsets by Romney, that's the big Romney Day that could put an end to all this.
