To be clear - those 13 are *county delegates* who are elected to the state convention to elect a much smaller number of state delegates. There are hundreds of precincts in Colorado, and some Ron Paul fans picked 3 that had odd results for them and are now trumpeting that. As usual, ToyCen has no real clue how the process works. The delegate selection is independent of the caucus straw poll, but its pretty random too - in many cases, you just say you want to be a delegate and there aren't enough people running so you get to be one. Ron Paul may have a lot or a little - but pointing to 3 silly precincts as evidence is pretty absurd.

I agree - but I think Paul supporters are more dedicated and more likely to volunteer to become delegates. Hence I think the GOP is in for a surprise and that Paul in fact will get more delegates than the caucus straw poll indicates. It is also why I find it laughable for some 'delegate projections' to give Paul only 3 delegates out of 25 in Iowa (where he won 21.4% of the vote) or 1 out of 33 in Colorado (where he won 12% of the vote). I am pretty sure Paul will get more than that. For an example, look at what happened in Nevada in 2008. Romney got first with 51% of the vote and Paul got 2nd with 14% of the vote. But most of the delegates at the state convention turned out to be Paul supporters and they were about to take over the convention & elect a bunch of delegates for Paul. It was then that the Nevada GOP chair - Sue Lowden - intervened and had the convention shut down. That is why I am inclined to believe the Paul campaign when they say they are winning more delegates than projected in these unbound caucus states...

On the flip side (and my perception may be skewed, given that I was among those who voted him out of office in PA), I would think that for Liberals, Santorum is the easiest of the remaining candidate to hate. Even moreso than Newt.
There's not as much dirt on Santorum as there is with Newt and Romney... just alot of poor choices he made. I'm fairly liberal. I actually admire Santorum a little after the Florida debates, NOT because I agree with this or that on his opinions (oh no, no, no), but at least he seems to believe what he believes, wrong as he may be. Gingrich will say anything to get a vote. (He must be a, uh, politician.) The Contract with America all over again. "Hey, Floridians, you have a lot of aerospace industry. I want to build a space colony on the moon before the Slant Eyes, the Next Great Enemy, does it." That he actually got applause made me want to puke. Romney and his gobs of money turn me off, not because he's so rich, but because he's so aloof. I don't expect him to apologize for being rich, nope, just not so smarmy about it. It's probably his truest conservative credential: I'm rich, you might be poor, don't blame me. At least he should recognize that we all aren't swimming in cash and many people are/have been w/o employment.
I guess for me, I expect a politician to say whatever they think gives them the best chance to be nominated, I accept that the vast majority of the people in Washington are self-serving twats, so it doesn't really phase me if I don't know what a candidate truly believes. In Santorum's case, I have a pretty good idea of what he believes in, and I find many of his beliefs beyond abhorrent.

It may or may not be meaningful for the actual results, but it is a calculated release by political professionals.
Yes, by political professionals that know they lead a cult of morons that will repeat it all over the internet like it's a big deal. If you agree with, admire or vote for Ron Paul, you are naive at best. Your vote is not just wasted, it is idiotic. For it is clear from all your [his supporters I mean - not weslinder] whining about his mistreatment by the media or whomever that you would be out in the streets crying like babies if his agenda ever came to pass. Imagine a tornado hitting your house. Imagine no highway to travel to work. Imagine your parent or yourself (or R2K) having a catastrophic health condition that you or they will die from if you don't have the cash in your pocket to pay for it. Imagine every child of a poor parent not having a school to go to. Now imagine your hero saying, "Tough luck. That is liberty." That's who you're for.
I didn't say he could do it; I said it's what he's for, since his supporters seem to be under delusions otherwise. He's also against the Civil Rights act and believes it is a violation of "liberty" to prosecute any form of discrimination based on race or anything else. I left that out before. In brighter news, Santorum has jumped over Romney in night one of PPP's three-day poll in freaking Michigan. I'm almost starting to feel bad laughing at these guys. Might as well start thinking about who would best serve as a successor to Obama in 2016 cause ain't none of these guys gonna give him a race this cycle.
