Ya but then we are going to vote straight ticket Libertarian, even though we've never head of 2/3rds of the candidates on the ticket ;).

Added to the fact that only 2/3 of the races (or less) have a Libertarian running...

Well for some positions the campaign would make no sense ha.

Libertarian Railroad commissioner hypothetical campaign strategy, "I don't believe the government should regulate commerce, this post shouldn't exist"

Somethings very wrong with the Nevada caucus numbers.

    http://news.yahoo.com/ron-pauls-last-stand-153602227.html

Here is 08' results compared to 12':

    IA: 2008 - 11.817 ... 2012 - 26,036 that's 2.2x as many
    NH: 2008 - 18,346 ... 2012 - 56,872 that's 3.1x
    SC: 2008 - 16,155 ... 2012 - 77,993 that's 4.8x
    FL: 2008 - 62,887 ... 2012 - 117,105 that's 1.9x
    NV: 2008 - 6,087 ... 2012 - 6,175 that's no significant change
if these #'s are accurate, then about 75% of RP supporters didn't show up? lol

That's how caucuses work. They require some time and effort, and lots of people just don't bother in the end. When you rely on a bunch of young people, the problem is even worse.

Also worth noting that turnout as a whole was down substantially. Mitt Romney got 50% both years, but had 22,000 people in 2008 and 16,000 this year. As a result, Ron Paul holding flat in absolute votes was actually an increase from 13% to 18% in relative votes.

How many of your multiple accounts are throwing their votes away on Ron Paul?

Just thought I'd point out that the "Texas Railroad Commission" has absolutely nothing to do with railroads. Carry on.

Even though what I said was just a joke at my own views, technically what I sad was still correct because the TRC regulates oil transportation :).

But honestly I had no idea what they did until you forced me to google it haha. I can imagine very few people outside of the oil industry do.

There was an article I saw about Florida that said that in the areas that Newt won, turnout was up; in the areas that Romney won, turnout was down. Not sure what to make of it - obviously, people don't care much for Romney, but I'm not sure why that didn't translate to Newt getting more voters from his apparently enthusiastic people. All around, this whole GOP nomination cycle is weird. I'm hoping Santorum can win Minnesota and throw some more of a mess into this.

That's why I made my post. Most people don't know that the TRC doesn't do railroads any longer, and hasn't for many decades. They regulate the oil and gas industry. Several times there have been strong efforts to change its name to reflect what it actually does, incuding the last year or two. The statewide elected "Railroad Commission" members use the positions as a political stepping stone. One is running for Senate as we speak. The oil and gas industry wouldn't mind seeing the name changed, in point of fact. The "Railroad Commissioners" are essentially elected lobbyists for the oil and gas industry. The industry would rather have better regulation and less politics. And yes, I did type that! It's true, at least here in Texas.

Why is Nevada considered a primary state I wonder?

Have you ever heard of area 51? How could it not be a primary state?

I guess, like you, they've realized he won't be winning anything?

What I want to see is, what if in these upcoming caucuses, RP's #'s keep increasing in large amounts. Will make this NV caucus look really suspicious.

you know there are more choices for president than R & D, right?:)

a solid vote in protest against the 2 party monopoly - I LOVE IT!!!

if its just an R & D i used to vote for the D, but now i just leave it blank.
