    Awesome! He's heating up!

Of Springer, Santana and Singleton which do you see:
    Hitting 30hr this season?
    Getting promoted first?
    Playing in the futures game?

for all the crap wade took, the pence trade has a good chance of ending up right behind andersen for bagwell deal on the list of best trades in franchise history.

Santana is ridiculous right now and 3 years younger than Springer!? So much upside and dude is listed at 6' 5" and 230lbs who can also run pretty well for his size (4-3B) Beast...

30 homers? I'll go with Santana, just barely.

Springer gets promoted first. Santana's 19, and I stand by what I say. He'll go to Corpus before the season's over, though.

The way they're both playing, they might get the invites to this year's Futures Game.

Getting pretty excited about our Minor leaguers. Can't wait to see who we draft and what our farm system will be ranked when they update the list.

Amazing to think Santana was the PTBNL in that trade.

Makes you wonder who the PTBNL is from the Q and Bourgeious to KC trade. We should be finding that out soon.

Farmstros might have an idea. Bolded players = you wish. Bryan Brickhouse, a standout from The Woodlands, is probably the most likely of the "you wish" group.

2011 draftees cannot be traded until it has been at least 1 year from the day they signed a contract.

    So, when did they sign?

    Sunday Stories

Only Lexington got a win. Yes, what a crappy Memorial Day it was for the Astros system.

OKC tried that epic comeback thing again. You can take a guess as to how it went.

Corpus tried one of their own too. Yeah, no cigar.

Lancaster had a different approach; they decided pretty late that they didn't want to win their game. By the way, Domingo Santana has awoken.

Lexington tried the epic comeback, with great success.

Potential roster issues looming? TCB mentioned Corpus' conundrum in their recap this morning.

Also, OKC may have some issues, while the two free agent pitchers are making their way out there.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>OKC is facing a roster crunch. Roster is at 23 now but Galarraga and Bass haven't been added yet and someone has to be sent down from HOU</p>&mdash; Bryan Trostel (@The_Batguy) <a href="https://twitter.com/The_Batguy/status/207458759285542912" data-datetime="2012-05-29T13:09:57+00:00">May 29, 2012</a></blockquote>

    Recap

For the 2nd straight game, OKC fell to Albuquerque 11-9, which means that they dropped 3 of 4 in the series, and finished their roadtrip 6-6. Piss off, Matt Kemp, you don't need any more rehab time.

Angel Sanchez, of all people, hit a homer. The solo shot was his 2nd of the season, and he has exceeded his home run total for the last 2 years, in which he hit a grand total of 1 in 238 games (62 AAA, 176 MLB). Brian Bixler went 3-5 with an RBI, one of 5 others (Carlos Corporan, J.B. Shuck, Landon Powell, and Jimmy Paredes) who drove in a run. Brandon Barnes went 2-5 and scored twice. Aneury Rodriguez got pounded in 3 innings, as he allowed 7 runs on 7 hits (1 2-run homer to Kemp), walked 5, and struck out 3. Sergio Perez pitched somewhat better, as he allowed a run on 5 hits and struck out 3 in his 3 innings of relief.

Corpus fell 3-2 to Springfield. They had Brandon Wikoff at 3rd with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, but Jonathan Villar grounded out to end the game. On that note, welcome back, Brandon Wikoff. He started at 3rd and went 2-3 with a walk out of the 8th spot in the lineup. Jose Martinez went 2-4 with a run scored and has reached base in 23 straight. The Hooks were able to score 2 in the 8th on a Jake Goebbert groundout and a Chris Wallace single. Jake Buchanan went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, walked 1, and fanned 6. Arcenio Leon allowed a hit, a walk, and struck out 2 in the 8th. Jason Stoffel had a strikeout in the 9th.

Lancaster decided to use a different formula for losing 8-5 to Lake Elsinore, as they surrendered a 5-1 lead to the Storm by allowing them to score 7 unanswered. Tyson Perez allowed 5 runs (1 inherited) on 8 hits (solo and 3-run homer) in 7 innings. He walked 2 and struck out 4. He didn't get the loss, as Brian Streilein got absolutely whacked in the 8th. Streilein didn't record an out, as he allowed 3 hits, a runner that he inherited from Perez to score, walked a man, and topped it off by allowing 3 more runs. Brad Dydalewicz cleaned up the mess without further incident. The good news is that Domingo Santana is ripping the California League apart this month. He clubbed a 2-run homer (9) in the 5th and added an RBI double in the 4th. George Springer had an RBI triple earlier in the 5th and scored on an error that allowed Adam Bailey to reach base safely. Then Santana did his thing. Erik Castro and Ben Orloff had 2 hits apiece.

Lexington tried their hand at a comeback and succeeded, walking off 4-3 winners in 10 in their series opener against Augusta. The Legends found the offense rendered useless against Joe Biagini, he of the 10.67 ERA entering this contest. They were held to 2 hits, and 2 walks and struck out 4 times in his 7 innings. And it looked as if the Legends were about to waste a pretty good effort from Luis Ordosgoitti, who allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in his 7 innings, walking 1 and fanning 6. After Biagini owned them for 7, the Legends decided that procrastination time was over and went to work on the GreenJackets' bullpen. They tied the game at 2 in the 8th, albeit in rather unglamorous fashion. Justin Gominsky grounded out (Mike Kvasnicka scored) and Jimmy Howick reached on a fielder's choice (Chris Epps scored). Then, after Augusta retook the lead in the 9th, Matt Duffy retied the game at 3 with a 1-out solo shot (8). Carlos Quevedo set the GreenJackets down in order in the 10th, then the stage was set. Epps and Gominsky started with 2 straight singles, then Howick sac bunted them over, then Delino DeShields was intentionally walked. Jordan Scott finished it off by flaring a single to center for the win.

Epps (who had a double and scored twice), DeShields, and Scott had 2 hits apiece. Carlos Quevedo allowed what was the go-ahead run at the time, but all was forgiven when Scott won the game. Quevedo allowed 2 hits, the run in the 9th, and struck out 6.

    Game Scores

    Luis Ordosgoitti: 62
    Jake Buchanan: 61
    Tyson Perez: 43
    Aneury Rodriguez: 15

    Three Stars

    4.

    Brandon Wikoff, SS/UTIL, Corpus Christi
    2-3, BB

Welcome back. Wikoff might not be anything more than a utility guy, but he's a pretty dependable player no matter where he's placed.

    3.

    [IMG] [IMG]

    Jordan Scott, CF, Lexington
    2-5, GW single

After hitting a huge wall to close out April, Scott has rebounded rather nicely. Looking at his numbers, I really like his approach at the plate too. Now, if he could just discover some power....

Also, it does appear that he does possess above-average speed, but needs some work on the basepaths.

    Matt Duffy, 3B, Lexington
    1-4, HR (8) in 9th

That clutch homer gave him a 9-game hitting streak. Without it, the Legends probably would have lost. No, they definitely would have.

    2.

    [IMG] [IMG]

    Luis Ordosgoitti, P, Lexington
    ND, 7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, BB, 6 K, 62 Game Score

I think Ordo is getting acclimated to the South Atlantic League. It was probably a bit much to ask him to pitch like this when he started out. But, I think his luck is starting to correct itself, and he should be good to go from here on out. His ERA has fallen off a cliff. Before the West Virginia game, he was at 8.49. Now, after this start against Augusta, his ERA currently stands at 4.50.

    Carlos Quevedo, P, Lexington
    W, 3 IP, 2 H, ER, 6 K

Quevedo's numbers as a reliever: 4-0, 1.05 ERA. In 34 1/3 IP (13 appearances), he's allowed 4 runs on 19 hits (no homers), walked 3, and struck out 36. He doesn't have the upside of Nick Tropeano, Mike Foltynewicz, or even Luis Ordosgoitti, but he has reinvented himself to join the ranks of Jason Chowning, Murilo Gouvea, and Dayan Diaz, giving the Legends another shutdown option in the bullpen. His plus command definitely allows his stuff to play up.

    1.

    Domingo Santana, RF, Lancaster
    2-4, 2B, HR (9), 3 RBI, R

This was the Domingo Santana we've been waiting for, right? If he destroys the Cali League in June, then I might have to reconsider what I said about where he plays this season.

    Honorable Mentions

Justin Gominsky and Jimmy Howick, Lexington: They only combined to go 1-7 at the bottom of the order, but their efforts in the 8th certainly kick-started a Lexington rally. I credited Duffy and Scott for tying and ending the game, respectively, but without the 8-9 guys, they wouldn't have even been in a position to do what they did.

George Springer, CF, Lancaster: Only 1 hit, but that was his 6th triple of the season.

Brad Dydalewicz, P, Lancaster: For cleaning up Brian Streilein's mess.

Jose Martinez, 2B, Corpus Christi: Next to Jonathan Singleton, I think Martinez has been the most consistent bat for Corpus. Reaching base safely in 23 straight is not easy.

Chris Epps, RF, Lexington: Neither is an 11-game hittting streak. He also delivered some timely hits late and was on base at the right spots.

    Goat

Throw this night in the trash, Brian Streilein. Yikes.

Dishonorable mention goes to Telvin Nash for a hat trick. 47 strikeouts this month, 75 in 185 plate appearances. Time to work on that swing, bro. You did say on Twitter that strikeouts are a part of the game. Well, it's the biggest part of your game right now. A 40% K rate can't be tolerated.

Another one goes out to Ben Heath for a golden sombrero.

    Looking Ahead

OKC stumbled in Albuquerque to finish their long roadtrip. Now that the Big 12 tournament is over, they can finally come home. The Redhawks open up a series with Nashville starting at 7:05. Dallas Keuchel will be trying to rebound after two straight disasters. He'll go up against Michael Fiers, a former teammate of J.D. Martinez's at Nova Southeastern University.

Corpus has the day off. They'll travel to Arkansas to face the Travelers. Their next two series will be against Arkansas and Springfield, only this time, the Hooks are the road team.

Lancaster will try to get something going against Lake Elsinore at 7:05 Pacific. Jorge De Leon (why he's still occupying that rotation spot, I'll never know) will get the start for the Jethawks. He will be opposed by Donn Roach.

Lexington and Augusta are back at it again at 7:05 Eastern. Mike Foltynewicz gets the call for the Legends; he will go up against Clayton Blackburn. Blackburn, a native of Amarillo, grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma, and was a part of that excellent 2011 pitching class in the state of Oklahoma, which included Dylan Bundy, Archie Bradley, Michael Fulmer, and our very own Adrian Houser.

I assume he's heading to Lancaster. George Springer or Adam Bailey may or may not be promoted as a result. Which just raises further questions about the roster clusterf**k.

Another move was made... although Chris Hicks hasn't pitched since April 8, he was moved up to OKC.

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Chris Hicks has been promoted to AAA @<a href="https://twitter.com/okcredhawks">okcredhawks</a> kinda surprising as he's been on the DL and hasn't pitched since April 8th <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%2523astros">#astros</a></p>&mdash; Brooks Parker (@Subber10) <a href="https://twitter.com/Subber10/status/207566203915472899" data-datetime="2012-05-29T20:16:54+00:00">May 29, 2012</a></blockquote>

And it didn't take long for T.J. Steele to find a new organization.

San Diego should have known better, since San Antonio and Corpus Christi are in the same AA league.

I've never seen Bailey play, but his stats don't scream out to me a prospect who should be promoted ahead of Springer or Santana. Maybe a top 20 organizational prospect. Does the organization have a particularly high opinion of him?

My idea would be fast-tracking springer and promoting Santana now.

A 23rd-round pick out of Nebraska in 2010, Bailey had a very nice first full season last year, with a .291 average, 24 homers, and 95 RBI across Lexington, Lancaster, and Corpus. He was 2nd in both categories behind Kody Hinze last year.

The knock on him is probably his lackluster plate discipline, as he fanned 98 times to only 26 walks. Pretty good power, obviously. And a bit of a hacker, too. At 24, he's pretty old for Lancaster, but he really should have been in Corpus the whole time. Still don't know why T.J. Steele got the nod over him.

Bailey's not a top 20 guy, but I'd consider him a top 30 guy in the system.

Well, Delino DeShields just hit a solo homer with 2 outs in the 8th. Lexington and Augusta are now tied at 1 heading into the 9th.

Mike Foltynewicz: 7 IP, 5 H, ER, BB, 5 K. He allowed a homer to Elliot Blair in the 3rd. No decision for him tonight.

In other news, OKC and Memphis was called after 5 innings. So, the Redhawks got a 2-0 win.

Really nasty weather in the Oklahoma City area right now.
