    Stories of the Night

    Rangers 2, Astros 0.

Rough pitching performances in the upper levels give way to some gems in the A levels.

This dude is the real deal.

Erik Castro may be the full-time DH, but he is what Mike Kvasnicka should be, or should have been. He is Stephen Strasburg's former catcher, drafted as a 3B. OK, OK, he missed 2010 because of a torn labrum and has been relegated to almost exclusively DHing ever since.

Lexington fights back to earn a split with Charleston. Zach Johnson continues to produce.

    Recap

Astros affiliates lost both of their games with Rangers affiliates tonight... OKC fell to Round Rock by a count of 8-3. Aneury Rodriguez lasted 3 2/3, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, walking 1 and striking out 5. He is also the only starter who has more flyouts than groundouts. Scott Moore and Justin Ruggiano drove in 1 apiece. Carlos Corporan went deep in the 6th for his 2nd of the season. Yes, you read that correctly.

Corpus, on the other hand, got demolished in Frisco 12-0. Guess the Roughriders didn't forget what had happened in Corpus when the Hooks took 3 of 4. The Hooks were held to 4 hits in the game, 2 of which belonged to Jonathan Singleton. Jarred Cosart didn't fare too well in his 2nd meeting with Frisco.... in 4 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 3 hits, walked 6, and fanned 4. It took him 94 pitches to get through those 4 innings, and he only threw 49 strikes. La Tortuga and Henry Villar were roughed up. Let's just leave it at that.

Lancaster went wild tonight as they overwhelmed Stockton 10-0. R.J. Alaniz was just dominant tonight. In 7 shutout innings, he allowed only 2 hits, walked 2, and fanned 7 while facing 2 over the minimum. Has he been lucky? Well, entering tonight.....

    http://minorleaguecentral.com/player.php?pid=595798

3.75 ERA, 2.49 FIP, .268 average against, which is alright, but behind that is a .338 BABIP, which is above the Cali League average of .313. Astronomically high line drive and infield fly percentages. Just as absurd is how he's allowed so few flyballs to the outfield. Alaniz will turn 21 on June 14, and is listed at 6'4", 175. So yes, I can see him throwing some serious heat (consistent 95) once he fills out his frame. He might find himself a little closer to home (he's from McAllen) by June if he keeps this up.

Also helping the Jethawks' cause tonight was the fact that Stockton committed 4 errors and were pretty bad across the board tonight. Wasted at-bats, poor baserunning, the whole nine yards. Domingo Santana got the party started with a 2-run single in the 1st. Well, he was only credited with 1 RBI thanks to Rashun Dixon, who committed the first Ports error. Ben Orloff went 2-5 with 2 doubles (one of which went for an RBI) and an RBI groundout. Rene Garcia was 2-4 with an RBI. George Springer got a hat trick, but on the bright side, he drew 2 walks and also scored twice. And Erik Castro is in the running to be this year's Kody Hinze, as he smashed a 3-run shot in the 5th for his 5th of the season. Andrew Robinson and Jose Trinidad completed the 2-hitter, and the Lancaster fans went home happy, as they got free tacos.

After dropping the first two games to Charleston, Lexington fought back to win last night, and emphatically claimed the series split with a 7-0 victory. Luis Cruz and Murilo Gouvea combined on a 3-hitter. Cruz allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6 in his 7 innings. Gouvea finished the game, allowing 1 hit and striking out 4. Zach Johnson opened the scoring with a 2-run shot in the 1st, his 4th of the season. He also added an RBI double in the 3rd, an inning in which Roberto Pena chipped in with an RBI single and Emilio King walked with the bases loaded. Drew Muren had an RBI groundout in the 7th, and Jimmy Howick finished it off with a solo homer to lead off the 8th, his 1st of the season.

The only thing working against him is that he'll be 24 in June.

and this is his first full minor league season. Well, I guess Zach will have some stories to tell his grandkids about how he tore it up in minor league ball, back in the day.

    Stories of the Night

After falling last night, OKC and Corpus strike back with empathic victories. Doesn't it feel nice to beat the Rangers at any level?

    Lancaster's pen unravels.

    Dramatics in Lexington!!!

    Recap

OKC poured it on the Astros' former Triple-A affiliate, as they jumped out of the gate with a 6-0 lead on their way to an 11-5 victory. J.B. Shuck went 5-5 with a double, an RBI single in the 5th, and scored twice. Capping off their 6-run first was Jimmy Paredes, who clubbed a 3-run homer (his 2nd) with 2 outs. Also in that inning was a Fernando Martinez RBI single and a Scott Moore 2-run double. Moore and Martinez, in a 4-run 5th, drove in OKC's final runs: Martinez with a 2-run single, and Moore with an RBI double. The other team scored 3 consolation runs off Sergio Perez in the 8th to make the final score appear respectable. Paul Clemens allowed a 2-run homer in the 3rd. Other than that, he was pretty good in his first start since coming off the DL. In 5 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3.

Corpus led Frisco 3-1 after the 6th, then they decided to lay waste to the Rangers' AA team by scoring 7 unanswered on their way to a 10-1 undressing. Ross Seaton, back from his spot start in OKC, had a good outing. 1 strikeout in 6 innings is a little underwhelming, but he allowed 1 run on 6 hits in that same timeframe. Kevin Chapman pitched 2 scoreless in relief, walking 2 and striking out 4. Josh Zeid, fresh off the DL, finished the game with a scoreless 9th. Big night from Austin Wates, as he went 4-6 with a homer and 5 RBIs. His bat pretty much turned this one into a laugher, with a 2-run double in the 7th, and he provided the cherry with a 3-run homer in the 9th, his 1st of the season. Jonathan Villar went 1-5 with 2 RBI; one on a double, and another on a force play. Brandon Barnes had an RBI single in the 3rd, and Chris Wallace added an RBI double in the 5th.

Lancaster managed to tie their game with Stockton at 4 after the 6th inning, but the Jethawks bullpen allowed 7 in the 7th on their way to an 11-4 defeat. Adam Bailey had a 2-run homer in the 4th, his 2nd of the season. And he was sent down since T.J. Steele apparently deserved another crack at Corpus. :)rolleyes:) George Springer went 2-5 with a double and scored on a wild pitch in the 6th. After that, Jonathan Meyer hit a single scoring Domingo Santana. Telvin Nash was not in the lineup, but don't fret; he's not injured. Lancaster play-by-play man Jason Schwartz says they're giving him an extra day of rest. Zach Grimmett allowed 6 runs (2 inherited) on 9 hits (solo homer) in 6 innings, walking 1 and striking out 7. The collapse largely fell on the left arm of Pat Urckfitz, as he only got 1 out in the 6th while allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 4 hits (3-run homer). He also allowed both runners he inherited from Grimmett to score. Yeesh.

It took a rain delay and 11 innings, but Lexington walked off 5-4 winners in their series opener with Savannah. The winning run came courtesy of a Drew Muren solo homer. Pretty good time to hit your first homer of the season. He finished 3-5 with a double and an RBI single in the 3rd. So in other words, he was a triple shy of the cycle. Matt Duffy got the show started with a 2-run homer in the 1st, his 2nd of the season. And John Hinson, in his 2nd game of the season, went 3-3 with a solo homer in the 2nd. Delino DeShields went 0-3 with a run scored and a walk. He also stole his 12th base, and has yet to be caught. Jonas Dufek went 5 innings, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits (3-run homer), didn't allow a walk, and struck out 5. The Legends bullpen picked him up in dominating fashion, throwing 6 scoreless and allowing 1 hit, 1 walk, and struck out 7. Carlos Quevedo pitched a perfect 6th and 7th, striking out 2. Chowning was the next man up, and he allowed 1 walk and also fanned 2. Dayan Diaz got the win for his efforts, allowing 1 hit and striking out 3. Chowning and Diaz sport 0.00 ERAs. Both should be on their way up soon.

    Stories of the Day

OKC completes a .500 homestand by taking 3 of 4 from Round Rock.

Corpus roughed up in Frisco. Every meeting but one has either been a blowout win or a blowout loss.

George Springer and Domingo Santana break out. Hopefully their slumps are behind them. Also, Jio Mier looks to stay hot on Jonathan Villar's heels.

Nick Tropeano is human after all.

    Recap

[rant]The shoe's on the other foot now, isn't it, Mr. Ryan? That Round Rock squad that's been trotting out this season looks a lot like what OKC sent out last year. But hey, you wanted the Express, so you got it.

    [/rant]

OKC took 3 out of 4 from Round Rock in a 9-4 win, despite committing 4 errors, 3 of which were committed by Angel Sanchez. I don't think his performance at the plate made up for his miscues in the field, but I can excuse it somewhat because of the fact that the Redhawks won. Onhell (2-5 with a double) was one of 4 to have 2 RBI today, the others being J.B. Shuck (3-5 with a triple and 2 runs scored), Brad Snyder(1-3), and Scott Moore (2-4, 2 doubles, 2 runs scored). 6 runs in the 5th did the trick. The Redhawks allowed 2 sympathy runs (unearned runs charged to Xavier Cedeno) in the 8th. Dallas Keuchel, after looking pretty mortal against Albuquerque his last time out, allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits (solo homer) in 6 1/3 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 3. OKC finished a 4-4 homestand, and will be hitting the road starting tomorrow. First stop: Albuquerque. First pitch 7:35 Central.

Corpus Christi got manhandled in game 3 of their series with Frisco, losing this one 10-3. T.J. Steele had a consolation pinch-hit solo homer in the 8th, his 2nd of the season. Andrew Simunic and Brandon Barnes had RBI singles. Yawn. Jose Cisnero got beaten like a drum in his 4 innings, allowing 6 runs on 11 hits (2-run homer). On the bright side, he only walked 1, but he only struck out 2. The Hooks will be finishing this series tonight at 7, then they'll be traveling westbound on I-20 (or flying) to Midland, where they'll

Rafael Valenzuela came through late for Lancaster, delivering a go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the 8th to give the Jethawks a 5-4 victory over Stockton. Big game from George Springer, as he went 4-5 with an RBI single in the 1st, and a double. Domingo Santana went 2-3 with an RBI triple and an RBI single; Springer came home on both Santana hits. So, if Jonathan Villar still can't reach the Mendoza Line by say, the middle of June, will he be forced to look over his shoulder for.... Jiovanni Mier??? Yeah, I said it. Mier went 3-4 with a double and a run scored to bring his average up to .287. It's no secret that he struggled after being promoted to Lancaster last season. However, he's looking markedly better in his 2nd go-round.

    http://minorleaguecentral.com/player.php?pid=545353

Jio Mier's BABIP in Lancaster last year was .299, which was well below the Cali League average of .331. Now, I understand luck does not determine everything in baseball. He also hit fewer line drives and groundballs after his promotion. In fact, his line drive and groundball rates in Lexington were below league average, too. On the other hand, he had a higher tendency to hit flyballs in both Lexington and Lancaster. So, I believe Mier's struggles last season stemmed from him trying to hit everything in the air, and as a result, he made many more easy outs. His infield flyball rates at both A stops were above average by a pretty good margin.

Pitching-wise for Lancaster, Bobby Doran went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 10 hits, walking and striking out 2. Brian Streilein walked 2 and only struck out 1 in his 2 1/3 innings of relief, but didn't allow a hit and got the win after Valenzuela's RBI single which turned out to be the winner. Jorge De Leon got the last 2 outs of the game for the save, striking out 1. Lancaster will have the day off, then they'll be off to Bakersfield, where Billy Hamilton will await them. Is Billy Hamilton one of the few baseball guys today with true world-class speed? I certainly think so. Although world-class may seem like a bit of a stretch to some of you guys.

Hmm.... so Nick Tropeano is mortal. Lexington was prevented from getting to .500 as they were walloped 9-3 by Savannah. The clinching inning was a 4-run 6th as the Sand Gnats knocked Tropeano out of the game by extending what was a 1-0 lead to 5-0. The Legends had no answer for Marcos Camarena, who, despite only having 1 strikeout, held them to 2 hits in 5 innings. It was only until the 6th when they got some offense in, but by then, none of them made much of an impact on the proceedings. Drew Muren went 3-3 with a triple and a run scored; Alex Todd drove him in. Matt Duffy had a consolation 2-run homer in the 9th, his 3rd of the season. He's surpassed his home run total from last half-season with Tri-City, and his performance this season is virtually in line with how he did in the New York-Penn League. Delino DeShields went 1-3 with a walk and stole his 13th base of the season.

Dustin Lawley, Brandon Brown, and Aderlin Rodriguez hassled Tropeano all afternoon. In his 5 2/3 innings of work, Tropeano allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. Evan Grills got the last out of the 6th via strikeout, but not before allowing a run, a hit, and a walk. That's all we saw of him today. Murilo Gouvea allowed 1 hit in 2 scoreless innings, striking out 2. Please don't let Tanner Bushue pitch until he's been rid of whatever's been affecting him. He only got 2 outs in the 9th, and in between that, he was torched for 4 runs on 3 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 1. Nathan Pettus finished the game without any further incident. The Legends will be back in action at 9:05 AM Central for the series finale. After getting Tuesday off, they will head to Greenville to begin a series.

I live in Round Rock. They also tried to sell it as an opportunity to get more butts in the seats. As it turned out, they did. IIRC, they brought in a whopping 3 more people in total attendance in 2011 than they did in 2012.

EDIT: I was wrong. The real number was 21,926 more in 2011 than 2010. A decent amount but one that could easily be attributed to an extra game with the Rangers and I'm not quite sure if it includes playoff attendance. If it does, then they would have actually had LESS than in 2010.

I used to by mini packages from the Express. Last year, I boycotted completely because of the switch. This season I plan to only go when OKC is in town.

Stories of the Morning and Night

Not exactly the best of days on the farm, as everyone lost. Lexington in extras, Corpus after taking a 4-0 lead, and OKC was straight up shut out.

A sign of life from Mike Kvasnicka. Hallelujah. Although he's toast as a prospect. Thanks a lot, Tal Smith.

Today's starters were in a rather giving mood.

    Recap

OKC got shut out in their series opener in Albuquerque, falling 8-0. Brett Oberholtzer had a meh Triple-A debut, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits in 5 1/3 innings, walking 1 and striking out 3. The offense had 8 hits, but again, no one scored. Yawn.

Corpus jumped out to a 4-0 lead against Frisco.... after 2 innings. So you'd probably expect things to be fine here, right? Well.... not exactly. The Roughriders scored 9 unanswered to take this game, and this series, 9-4. The Hooks were held to 3 hits tonight, one of which was a 3-run homer in the 1st from Kody Hinze (his 4th). Austin Wates got an RBI on a squeeze play in a 2nd. La Tortuga was feeling rather gracious in his 4 innings tonight, as he served up 3 homers, 2 of which came from the #9 hitter, Zach Zaneski. So, he allowed 5 hits, 5 runs, walked 2, and struck out 2. Alex Sogard made his first appearance since his promotion from Lancaster by being the first reliever, and he was pretty wild in 2 innings of work, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, walking 4 and striking out 2. Josh Zeid and Jason Stoffel allowed a run in their innings of work.

Lancaster had the night off. They'll start a series with Billy Hamilton and Bakersfield tomorrow. Over/under on how many steals Hamilton gets this series? I'll go out and put the number at 7.

In another one of their morning games, Lexington lost this game, and the series, in excruciating fashion, falling 10-9 to Savannah in 12 innings.

So, this is how Kyle Hallock pitched today. Only this time, imagine the ball being sent out at an alarming rate.

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vdhftriXIrk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Hallock was a saint to the Sand Gnats' hitters today! He served up 5 homers! 2 for Travis Taijeron (3-run & 2-run), and 3 solos for T.J. Rivera, Camden Maron, and Brian Harrison. He lasted 3 1/3, allowing 8 runs on 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3.

And so, the Legends found themselves in a 7-1 hole entering the bottom of the 3rd. A Zach Johnson RBI double was the only scoring up to that point. But then, Drew Muren had a sac fly. And the big shot came from.... Mike Kvasnicka, whose 3-run shot made it a game once again. The Sand Gnats scored 3 in the 1st and 2nd, then added 1 in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th. At that point, it was a 9-4 hole entering the bottom of the 5th. Then Matt Duffy sent a solo shot out for his 4th. And Kvasnicka scored on an error in the 8th! Then John Hinson put the Legends within 1 with an RBI single! And Jordan Scott finished it off with a sac fly in the 9th inning. The Legends had a chance to win in the 10th after Delino DeShields stole 2nd and 3rd, but he was left there when Zach Johnson struck out.

Now fast-forward to the 12th. Dayan Diaz came in for Jason Chowning, who kept the Legends in the game by throwing 3 scoreless innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 3 in the process. Diaz got Dustin Lawley to fly out for out #1. Then, Taijeron, who was a thorn in the side of Lexington's pitching, smacked a double. Aderlin Rodriguez would then sacrifice himself to move Taijeron to 3rd. And what happened next is just maddening. Diaz went wild, allowing Taijeron to score the go-ahead run. In the bottom half, Jimmy Howick led off with a single and made it..... to 3rd, as Zach Johnson whiffed to end the game. For shame.

So, here we go. DeShields went 1-5 with a double, a walk, and stole 3 bases. He's up to 16. How many will he get before being caught for the first time? John Hinson went 2-6 with an RBI. Johnson was 2-5 with a double, and RBI, and drew 2 walks. Duffy went 2-6 with the solo homer, his 4th, and scored twice. Drew Muren went 1-4 with the sac fly and doubled. Kvasnicka was 3-6 with the 3-run homer, his 1st, and scored twice. And did not strike out. Chris Epps and Jimmy Howick both went 2-6.

Nathan Pettus was the first man out. He got the last 2 outs of the 4th and pitched the 5th, allowing a run on 3 hits and walked a man. Carlos Quevedo was next and pitched 3 perfect innings, striking out 3. I've already told you Jason Chowning's line, but I'll repeat it. In 3 innings, he allowed 1 hit and struck out 3. He still has an ERA of 0.00. Dayan Diaz, on the other hand, not only got the loss, he also no longer has an ERA of 0.00, as he picked a really bad time to go wild. He allowed the only hit and run to Travis Taijeron, and recorded a strikeout in the 12th.

Chowning needs to be moved up. He has proven his mastery of that level at this point. Struck out one per inning all last year at Lexington with a 2.45 ERA. Hasn't allowed an earned run in 13.1 innings this year. Move him up and see what happens.

    [rquoter]Minor League roster moves forthcoming
HOUSTON -- With the Minor League season about a month old, the Astros could begin to start shuffling some players to different clubs, but don't expect any eye-opening promotions or demotions just yet.

The Astros made several roster moves within the organization in the last few days that became necessary when pitcher Jordan Lyles and infielder Brian Bixler were called up to the Major Leagues out of necessity. Director of player development Fred Nelson said some moves that aren't related to injuries or filling roster spots could begin to happen soon.

"We kind of have a feel of what the clubs are like and if they're competitive," he said. "You've seen enough of the league in most cases. Sometimes the way the schedule is you haven't seen [other teams in the league] and maybe you haven't seen the best four teams and maybe you haven't seen the worst four teams.

"We have a pretty good feel of who we've got where and if we've made any mistakes and if guys are in places they shouldn't be. It's just more tweaking and making sure we have the guys in proper spot."[/rquoter]

I'd take that to mean you could see a move like that forthcoming.

Nick Tropeano may have had 2 subpar outings his last 2 times out, but if he's up to 94, that could call for some reassessment of his ceiling, provided that his slider develops as expected. BA says he picked up velocity simply by throwing his fastball more often.

Also, I'm hearing through the grapevine that at least two unidentified Lexington pitchers will be heading to extended spring training in a matter of days.

Singleton was hit by a pitch during the 1st inning tonight and was pulled from the game.

    Hope he is ok.

    Stories of the Night

Showing why he was the #11 pick last season. Impressive night for George Springer.

Wes Musick had another outstanding start, but he almost had to settle for a no-decision. Almost.

Absoutely no offense to anyone with Midland/Odessa/Permian Basin roots.

Let's hope Jonathan Singleton is alright.

Fernando Martinez showing everyone why he was such a highly touted, yet horribly rushed, prospect in the Mets system.

As I mentioned earlier, some changes are on the way for Lexington.

    Recap

After falling behind Albuquerque 4-1 after the 4th inning, OKC began a rally by scoring 3 in the 5th to make it a 5-4 game. The Isotopes got 1 back in the bottom half, but the Redhawks were able to tie the game in the 6th. Unfortunately for the Hawks, the tie didn't last, as a Josh Fields sac fly proved to be the difference in a 7-6 game. Justin Ruggiano went 2-4 with a solo homer in the 4th, his 4th of the season, and scored twice. Fernando Martinez only went 1-5, but his lone hit was a 3-run homer in the 5th, his 5th of the season. Angel Sanchez went 3-4 with an RBI. Henry Sosa lasted 4 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits, walking 1 and striking out 1. Mickey Storey got the loss in 2 innings of relief, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits (solo homer). He walked 1, struck out 2, and allowed the go-ahead sac fly.

Well, after dropping 3 of 4 to Frisco, Corpus Christi was in Midland tonight for the 2nd leg of their roadtrip. They dropped the series opener 5-3. Jonathan Singleton was plunked in the 1st and left the game as a precaution. Jordan Kreke took his place and went 1-3 with 2 strikeouts and a run scored. Really, it wasn't a very eventful night on the offensive end, as Austin Wates, Kody Hinze, and Jose Martinez drove in 1 each. Jake Buchanan had a bare minimum quality start, allowing 7 hits, walking 4, and striking out 2. The guy that tweeted about how much he doesn't like Midland allowed an unearned run on 2 hits in the 7th, walking 1 and fanning 2.

Wes Musick was fantastic once again for Lancaster tonight in their series opener in Bakersfield. I'd be slightly more excited if he were a couple of years younger, but I still give him a lot of credit for tonight. In 8 innings, he allowed 1 run on 4 hits (solo homer), walked 2, and struck out 4. However, he had to watch as his bullpen almost suffered an epic fail in the bottom of the 9th. Luckily, Kirk Clark was able to get the last out to preserve a 5-4 victory. Whew. Pat Urckfitz and Jorge De Leon (well, mostly De Leon) should owe Musick something for almost blowing it. Adam Bailey went 3-4 and kicked things off with a 2-run double with 2 outs in the top of the 1st. Enrique Hernandez went deep in the 4th, his 2nd of the season. And finally, George Springer went 1-3 with 2 runs scored, 2 walks, and a 2-run homer in the 8th, his 3rd. He also threw out the fastest man in baseball, Billy Hamilton, at home for the first out in the 4th inning.

As I said, things almost went FUBAR in the bottom of the 9th. Urckfitz was the first man out of the bullpen. He got Hamilton to ground out, and struck out Devin Lohman. He couldn't quite get that last out, allowing a single to Donald Lutz and walking Travis Mattair. So, enter Jorge De Leon, and he couldn't get one out either. Instead, he allowed an RBI single to David Vidal, who advanced to 2nd on the throw home. Now, it was a 2nd and 3rd situation, and De Leon allowed a 2-run single to Andrew Means to make it a 5-4 game. But, Kirk Clark ended it, and saved De Leon's ass, one batter later by getting Bryson Smith to ground out.

Lexington was off. They will kick off a roadtrip in Greenville starting tonight, although they rolled into town a little bit behind schedule. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>My boys @<a href="https://twitter.com/PaPaTropeano">PaPaTropeano</a> and twitterless Carl and kvas <a href="http://t.co/I69I7Pri" title="http://twitter.com/Jason_Chowning/status/197441551562055681/photo/1">twitter.com/Jason_Chowning…</a></p>&mdash; J CHOW21 (@Jason_Chowning) <a href="https://twitter.com/Jason_Chowning/status/197441551562055681" data-datetime="2012-05-01T21:45:09+00:00">May 1, 2012</a></blockquote>

And once again, changes will be coming to the Legends roster. Emilio King, Tanner Bushue, and Kyle Hallock were sent to extended spring training. Corresponding moves will be made official today, although word on the street is Brandon Meredith will be one of the guys on his way up.

Jarred Cosart on the mound vs. Midland right now. Jonathan Singleton is in the lineup.

Update: The two pitchers have been identified. You may be a bit surprised as to which 2 got the call.

Ordosgoitti is interesting. Didn't he pitch well in short season ball last year? There was a pitcher in the short season leagues that was a pleasant surprise, but I can't remember who it was.

With Jose Martinez playing this well, we are absolutely stacked at 2B. Would be nice for one of those unusual prospect for prospect trades.
