I meant to post this after the season but never got around to it. Thought I'd post it now before news gets heavy with training camp about to start. Here are the ratings for each Texans game in 2011. The numbers are for the Houston area only. They don't reflect national ratings, just the Houston market. Week ... Opponent ....... Rating/Share 1 ......... vs Colts ......... 24.4/46 2 ......... @ Dolphins ..... 26.7/45 3 ......... @ Saints ........ 25.3/47 4 ......... vs Steelers ..... 24.1/48 5 ......... vs Raiders ...... 26.1/48 6 ......... @ Ravens ....... 19.3/36 7 ......... @ Titans ........ 21.0/44 8 ......... vs Jaguars ...... 23.6/47 9 ......... vs Browns ....... 21.5/44 10 ....... @ Buccaneers .. 23.5/45 11 ....... Bye 12 ....... @ Jaguars ....... 25.3/47 13 ....... vs Falcons ....... 25.8/48 14 ....... @ Bengals ....... 25.3/49 15 ....... vs Panthers ..... 22.2/47 16 ....... @ Colts .......... 22.4/36 17 ....... vs Titans ........ 23.9/47 WC ...... vs Bengals ...... 34.9/59 Div ...... @ Ravens ........ 37.0/67 2011 was the best year, ratings-wise, the Texans have ever had. Notice that during the regular season there were six games with a rating greater than 25. In the previous nine seasons only a total of four games recorded a rating higher than 25. 2012 should be an even better year with the ratings for the Texans, especially if they get off to a good start. With five nationally televised games and other high quality matchups, the numbers could be through the roof. FYI, a rating is the percentage of televisions tuned into that program. A share is the percentage of televisions turned on tuned into that program. For example, suppose we have a population of five televisions. Let's say two TVs have the Texans game on, one TV has Sewing with Susie on, and the other two TVs are turned off. The Texans game would have a 40 rating and 67 share, while Sewing with Susie would have a 20 rating and 33 share. Ratings count televisions turned on and off while share only counts televisions turned on.
