Fergie brought absolutely nothing for that GnR song voice-wise. It was disappointing they even went there. Did BEPs do a cover of that song or something? Or, was it just an excuse to get Slash out there? I saw Fergie singing "Gimme Shelter" with Mick Jagger at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame whatever on TV a few years ago. I thought that worked really well and she sounded great during that song. But, she absolutely looked like she was trying too hard with the GnR song. I don't know what it is about these people who feel like they have to oversing to show their talent. Christina Aguilera was more interested in doing her vocal runs than getting the song right. Just because you have talent and can sing a song as elaborately as you want doesn't always mean it is a good idea. We know Christina can sing her butt off but what she did yesterday was total overkill. And, she botched the lyrics to boot.
Never gonna make everyone happy, but I would agree KISS is a good choice in that "Yes, they're old, but they wear makeup and still bring it." It won't make everyone happy, but it's a spectacle. Plus, it's a big badarse Rock show and they are all about supporting troops and America and all that kind of good stuff. Make it happen, Morey.
Next year it will be Don Henley and The Eagles doing "Hotel California" mixed in with some "Desperado", "Witchy Woman", and "The Boys of Summer". Have fun with that we will.
Meh it was better than the old farts that they trot out there seemingly year after year. Dirty Bit is the only song I like though and that's bc of the beat.
dude, they had to yell cuz the sound system was borrowed from Jason Terry. next time we'll get vanilla ice.
Not that I am a homo or anything but I cannot understand for the life of me how Fergie got Josh Duhamel as a husband. He has been in movies with Katherine Heigl and Kristen Bell among others who all SMOKE Fergie when it comes to looks, body, talent, etc.
Dude, I've seen them before sharing the same sound system with other acts (World Cup Concert). The other acts sounded fine, the Black Eyed Peas sounded bad. As others here know, I'm a professional musician. I've played many venues of many different sizes with many different sound systems with soundmen of varying ability. I can tell the difference between poor performance due to audio issues and poor performance due to lack of actual talent. The Black Eyed Peas are a studio group, that's it.
I see, BEP lack actual talent really... that sounds like Jeff Van Gundy saying Blake Griffin can not dunk.
Black Eyed Peas have and always will be produced to death. Live, they sound HORRIBLE. Fergie looked AND sounded like she belonged in a dive bar in rural Mississippi instead of one of the biggest stages on Earth. Usher came on to basically do the flying splits....he didn't even ACT like he was singing. And Slash?? With Fergie "singing" Sweet Child O' Mine? I put singing in quotes because all she really did the entire time was yell into the mic. All of their costumes were from 2004, and the only thing missing was a Bieber appearance. The last halftime performance that was even REMOTELY considered to be great to me was 2001's, back when Britney Spears still looked GOOD.
Not completely devoid of talent. They write some nice, catchy songs. But they can't reproduce them live. Their place is in the studio, not on the stage. And it's not like their HORRIBLE horrible, but they're not close to being on the level you'd expect from a group in their position.
You understand that there is a difference between having STUDIO talent, and having talent as a live act, right?? 90% of the crap you hear on the radio today come from people who are auto-tuned, produced, and mastered to the point of being unrecognizable, Black Eyed Peas included.
