Although the commercials weren't as great as previous years, they had some really funny ones. Darth Vader one was pretty cool.

The VW and Chrysler commercial with Eminem were good. Cowboys and Aliens looks bad enough to be good (i.e. Snakes On A Plane). Super 8 looks great, can't wait.
and people wonder why the Montana Fishburnes of the world are making p*rn. They all wanna be the Next Kim K. Rocket River

Hi, we ran our business into the ground, then used your tax dollars to pay multimillionaire Eminem to do a commercial for us. Thanks, Your friends at Chrysler.
Hulu has most if not all the ads up now on their website: http://www.hulu.com/adzone2011?wfw#50120562
That was a good one. The first Eminem (animated/claymation, whatever that's called) was a pretty good one. The 2nd Eminem commercial for the Chrysler 200 ("goodbye" Sebring) was "eh".
Darth Vader Volvo commercial was probably my favorite. I also like the Pepsi Max commercials and the Snickers commercial with Roseanne get clobbered by the log. And the Bumblebee Chevy commercial...that was pretty awesome too. Go Daddy probably the worst..they just need to stop. That act is already a few years stale. I think the "golden age" of Super Bowl commercials has definitely passed at this point. With the advent of the digital age, with so many new marketing tools at a companies' fingertips, it just doesn't make sense anymore to spend millions on ad time, and millions more producing a 30 sec spot. Still will always be some good commercials, but not near the hype and pomp of yesteryear. As for movie trailers... Battle: LA ....oh hell yes. I'm loving what I'm seeing. Cowboys vs Aliens... a big yes so far for it. It has me because it's different. Super 8... this reminded me a bit of ET or Close Encounters. It has a classic Spielberg vibe. But it's JJ Abrams. I'm definitely digging it. Rango... looks decent. May have to check it out. Transformers... a definite yes so far. I like what I see. If they have a decent script and Bay tones down the juvenile humor, then it could be good. (I love T1) POTC ...indifferent. I'll probably give it a chance, but I'm not expecting much. I don't think the Capt Jack Sparrow character can carry a film on his own. It's missing a Will and Elizabeth type-characters imo. Thor ...looks mediocre at best. I'm skeptical that it'll translate well to the screen. Capt America... could be badass...orr a total flop. I'm not sure what to think yet.
The Worst: Etrade commercial. At least the Go Daddy had hot chicks. The Best: The Doritos commercial where he brings the fish back to life. I like the Darth Vader one too as we all seem to wish we had The Force within us.
I thought the 1984 spinoff was nicely executed, maybe I just love orwell so much that I clap my hands like peter griffin anytime I see a reference to that novel. The motor city one with slim shady had a good message I thought. I like that he always goes to bat for detroit. Almost like he was from there or something. The nice rack from that flowers website, something us romantics on here would say. Also, again, maybe because I'm a house md fan, but both promos for house were excellent. "This is our House" And finally, the last one I truly enjoyed and is not getting a lot of run.. is the NFL's sitcom tribute. From happy days to the Sopranos. Forgot the Darth Vader Jr one. It was clever.
The one that probably got the biggest chuckle out of me was the Mean Joe Green Coke knockoff for House. Him knocking the kid out with his cane... probably more amusing to me then it ought to have been.
