They did OK. Alot of promise. We had a GREAT draft, only team where every single draft pick (and we had like 10 or 11 of them) made the team... Our defense is ranked top 10 in the league. We just can't stay healthy. I've come to the realization that Rex can be a decent QB if he has weapons other then a RB. He needs two top 30 WRs in the league and a tight end who can stay healthy. Shanahan has said since week 6 he has been looking at 10-15 QBs that have declared for the draft. If he isn't impressed with what he sees and the asking price to move up to get the guy he wants, then it looks like we'll be going out to free agency or looking to trade for a veteran, and then plan on taking Barkley in 2013. If we don't draft a QB, then our main focus in the draft will be O-line, wrs, CB, and LB. Even this season, we were talented enough to be a 10-6 team, but injuries, unlucky breaks, and bad calls by the Zebra crew cost us the season. You may point to me and say well the TEXANS had so and so and so and so injured. True, but its obvious (up until Schaub's injury) that you guys didn't really skip that much of a beat with AJ/Mario Williams being out. Try playing with a make-shift Oline. I think the total number of different Oline combinations we used was like 12. Shanahan said it best,, at week 5 we were #1 in the league in rushing yards. Week 5 is when our key LG got injured for the year (on a cheap hit from an Eagle after a play was over). After this, we had to slide our decent Center over to cover LG, and put a rookie C in to start. All down hill from there. We also had our starting RB to go down for the year in week 6, our TE Chris Cooley was out for the year at week 4, we drafted a stud DL who got put on the IR in preseason, Laron Landry played the 4 games he played this season injured, our backup TE and starting LT got suspended 4 games each for substance abuse. To be a good team, you have to have quality starters, to be a great team, you got to have quality backups. To be a playoff team, you need both, and also calls from the Zebra squad to go your way. /rant
Your team has the worst owner in sports and most overrated coach in the NFL. You keep drinking that Kool Aid, though.
I understand about the owner, but what's this about Mike being overrated? He has been here 2 years and turned our train wreck around (record is due to the reasons I listed in my last post) There are only 5-9 players on the team still from the Zorn era. We cut the dead weight in McNabb, and Haynesworth (in which it seems Shanahan was right about both those guys) He's doing a FANTASTIC job with what we have. He passed on Blaine Gabbert in the draft, let Jacksonville buy that lemon, and picked up 3 additional picks which were solid players in our system. Why is this guy "overrated"?
