If Prince or Peterson are off the board, they should just get a corner in the later rounds.

Why would either be off the board -- Houston's only remaining goal this season is to lose enough games to draft BOTH of them. Where's Kris Brown?

Hopefully Rick Smith will not be conducting the 2011 draft.

    Bump

With the playoffs out of the picture nothing to really look forward to anymore. Currently we are in a 5 way tie for the 8th overall pick.

We should be trading up in this draft. I don't think we're going to suck enough to land a top five pick, so I'd love for us to trade up and get Peterson.

No we really shouldn't. So many holes that keeping draft picks is the only thing that makes sense.

No way we get Peterson I think. He should be top 5, if not top 3. Gotta agree that defense is the way to go though.

Great position to nab either an outstanding CB or DT. The two biggest needs.

Top 5 in order on the board for the first rd.

    1) Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
    2) Adrian Clayborn, DT, Iowa
    3) Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
    4) Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn
    5) Marcell Darius, DT, Alabama

Top heavy draft -- both Andrew Luck and DaQuan Bowers are all-world talents, and will be superstars in the NFL.

Peterson will be a top-5 five, possibly a top-3. Realistically, the Texans will be considering Amukamara, Janoris Jenkins, Nick Fairley, and Stephen Paea. Of the 4, I'd take Prince. Jenkins relies too much on instincts and raw athleticism, while Prince is the more skilled, technical cover corner. Jenkins was ripped to shreds as a sophomore... plus, Prince seemed like a very cerebral, well-spoken kid at the ESPN CFB banquet. He's definitely the safer pick. Fairley's a Glen Dorsey clone -- high energy, disruptive force, emotional. Paea's the strongest player in the draft, and one of the most powerful DT prospects of the last 2-3 decades.

We need to tank from here on out, and pray that Peterson falls in to our lap.

Any corner in the draft is going to be a project, might as well go FA and overpay since they know what they're getting, without having to coach him up. Is there a stud FS out there? I enjoy watching Troy and Reed play, and then get jealous seeing emerging young talents like Chung, Delmas, and Byrd.

Go for the DT, it would probably be easier for raw power and aggression to produce results. A dominant D line will compensate for a young secondary.

They have had too many bad drafts not to consider moving up to get a top level talent.

Dumb question: If the Texans were to trade Jacoby Jones or Kevin Walter, how high of a pick could they get? I like both players (Walter more than Jones), but if they could get a good enough pick, they should sacrifice the luxury of two #2 quality receivers, especially since David Anderson is a good #3.

This is said every year. Literally. Every. Year. And we have nothing to show for it.

Drafting an impact CB would do wonders for our defense.

The Stratford Spartan in me wishes we could end up with Luck! :) Groom him as Schaub's ultimate replacement. And still manage to improve the defense.

(I know!! I know!! that's not going to happen!)

Round 4-7, leaning closer to 7 than 4.

Never mind. They're worth more than that to the Texans.

I don't see them going CB again. Surely they won't give up on Jackson just yet and GQ is a quality/good starter. But if Peterson is on the board then you cant pass him but that won't be an issue since the texans wont draft that high.

DT makes the most sense. Please, can they finally get a disruptive DT who can blow people up?

I don't see a safety being good enough to go 10-15ish unless they convert Prince.

LB could be an outside possibility i suppose.

I'm getting more and more concerned about the WR core. Jones isnt reliable enough to plan your future on and as much as I like Walters, he just doesnt make enough big plays. How much longer can we expect AJ to carry the big play ability all alone?
