considering the fact that he played more than half of this season with a broken hand and still put up outstanding numbers, including breaking receiving records at Alabama, he deserves to be up there. Ever since julio and AJ were freshman there has always been a dispute between whose better and obviously Green is but Julio is not to far behind him. He also does other things well such as blocking.
If he slips to 7 or 8 I would trade our 1st and 2nd round pick to get him. He would help out for sure. Ideally though I would like to pick up a veteran CB in FA, and draft OLB or NT.
I agree but I don't see the Texans trading up since we have so many holes to fill. Seems like I say this every season but we've pretty much taken ourselves out of any chance for Peterson or Prince by winning one last meaningless game. Von Miller could very well be out of reach as well. If Miller is off the board, Stephen Paea is a very viable candidate.
Thing is under all of Rick Smith's drafts we really haven't drafted any players of relevance with our 2nd or 3rd round picks so that's why I wouldn't mind using them to move up if it assures us of landing a stud player. 2007 - 3rd Jacoby Jones 2008 - 3rd Antwon Molden, 3rd Steve Slaton 2009 - 2nd Conner Barwin, 3rd Antoine Caldwell 2010 - 2nd Ben Tate, 3rd Earl Mitchell
Texans to have a meeting with Peterson http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?sl...atrick_peterson_to_meet_with_panthers_tonight MOBILE, Ala.—LSU consensus All-American cornerback Patrick Peterson is ambitious, wanting to convince the Carolina Panthers to choose him with the first overall pick of the draft. Peterson told National Football Post that he'll meet with the Panthers tonight. He also has meetings with the Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers. The Jim Thorpe and Chuck Bednarik Award winner conducted a workout for NFL teams today at the Senior Bowl. The star junior is projected to go within the top five selections of the draft in April after declaring early for the draft.
This sucks. I don't know anything about player evaluation so with respect to technique, I'm pretty much out of my depth, but my first impression on seeing him is BJ Raji.
Did you watch the cotton bowl? Dude got demolished by Jeff Fuller. Now granted, Jeff Fuller is a potential first rounder next year, but I'll leave it to your imagination as to how he will do against NFL receivers. As for who I would like to see drafted, I'm obviously biased here, but I would love to see Von Miller chop D!ck$ every Sunday with the Texans. Here's what todd McShay of ESPN had to say about Count Sacula: Oh, the wet dreams I've had of the Cush and Vonilla wreaking havoc on opposing offenses. PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN!
There are two philosophies that seem to work in the NFL draft. 1. trade up and get one player that fills a need and will help the team for years or 2. (the Jimmy Johnson method) trade down and draft more numbers of players where one or more out performs their draft ranking to become a viable player. If you only have a lower #1 or one second and one third and you decide to take a flyer on an unproven 'guess' and you miss, you set your team back a year. I dont get the obsession with Nate Solder, I feel like the guy committed at least 3 penalties a game and made a ton of boneheaded mistakes that got his QB hurt a lot of the time. Yes, he is huge, but he doesnt play smart there are a lot of holes to fill, most of which I do not want being filled by rookies though. I would prefer vets at most positions of need. I definitely would be in favor of trading up for a true stud early in the draft
RT @AdamSchefter: 2 those asking whr Texans A+M LB Von Miller will go in the NFL draft, the early signs R, Top 5 pick.
FAWK I'm so happy for Von, but man oh man the things I'd give to have him. What teams in the top 10 run the 3-4 and are interested in an OLB?
Panthers should be switching to 3-4, Buffalo runs both packages, Cards, 49ers, Dallas, and Washington. Browns I hear could be switching to 4-3, and it's always possible Titans switch with their new DC, so barring a combine meltdown, Von's out by 11.
Haha Wanted to know if any agree/disagree with this argument against drafting Miller(should he be there). Brought up by someone on the Battle Red Blog and SBNation Houston. Basically, for a guy who relied on his speed, he's gonna have to put weight on, taking away from his greater strength's. BRB: SBNation:
For those that want to trade down there could be a QB that another team wants to move up for at #11. We did this in 2008 with the Ravens who moved up for Flacco and the Texans got a #3 (Steve Slaton) and a #6 (Dominque Barber). Might be able to grab another second rounder from someone. Would you consider dropping all the way to say #25 to the Seahawks if you get their second rounder as well? #25 would be a good spot for Rahim Moore.
LOL Von is one of the most polite and composed people I've ever seen. That celebration, according to him, is called "cooking", because he started getting into cooking recently (ie: chopping vegetables in the kitchen). The whole "chopping d!cks" originated on the notorious texags, an Aggie fan forum. Von would never endorse "chopping dicks", although I did hear that if you mention his name with saying "sir", you WILL get your d!ck chopped
