The Knicks fans are thinking the likes of Deron Williams, CP3, Tony Parker, and Melo. So yeah, they're not going to waste capspace on just random scrub who can help them win a couple next year. THEY'RE ALREADY LOOKING FORWARD TO 2012. Next year's pick is going to be a dandy.
Insight from a huge Knicks homer, fun read: http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nba/news/story?id=5365731
Once Lebron gone, Knicks' the biggest loser in off-season with no doubt. A so so roster leading by Amare is a very mediocre team. But this team will not tank. They are no u-turn with no draft picks. D'antoni knows what Amare can do. Thats the strongest bond in that roster. They will do everything fighting for a playoff spot. Expect 7-9 ranking in the east if Amare's healthy.
highly doubtful. pringles doesn't know what "D" stands for, and now everyone realizes who the real offensive mastermind was in phoenix. (hint: he doesn't have a mustache). unless NY does something brilliant (unlikely) between now and the trade deadline, we're going to have a nice little pick next season.
2011 draft pick swap(top 1 protected). It allows the Rockets to switch draft positions with them. It also has an additional bonus for the draft lottery. If the Knicks win the lottery and get only 2nd or 3rd spot, it goes to the Rockets. If it goes #1, Knicks keep the pick. 2012 draft pick (top 5 protected). Rockets gets NY's 1st round draft pick, unless it's in the top 5.
(1) The right to swap 2011 first round picks with the Knicks. Top-1 protected only. (2) The Knicks' 2012 first round pick outright. Top-5 protected in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. If the pick is not conveyed by 2015, then the Rockets get the Knicks' own 2015 second rounder and the Knicks' 2016 second rounder.
We get something around the same pick we had this year from the Knicks because we will be ahead of them in the standings.
Full tank mode gives them the best chance at #1 protection. Few can play bad like the Knicks can play bad.
It's not out of the realm of possibilities that the Rockets could actually end up with the #2 pick in the 2011 draft and the #6 pick in the 2012 draft. So sick Morey, so sick. Morey should try to turn one or both of those picks into Rubio and maybe Jefferson. Perhaps Rubio could even be bought out in time for the 2010 season.
The Knicks can tank all they want, but as far as I know they won't get any more than a 25% chance at the #1 pick.
I hope they go into full tank mode. Even if they have the worst record in the NBA they still only have a 25% chance of getting the number one over-all pick. I'll take a 75% chance at a top 5 pick. But they won't intentionally tank. They know those odds. Luckily, they'll suck bad enough I don't think they have to intentionally tank.
The odds may be better, but the odds are still heavily in the Rocket's favor. If the Knicks have the worst record in the NBA, they have a 75% chance of dropping to 2nd-4th. The Knicks fans would tear the Knicks office apart, if it lands on #2 and it's another Kevin Durant type player. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_Draft_Lottery If they barely miss the playoffs, and swap a 11-14th pick with the Rockets, then they didn't give much at all.
I SAY IF ANY TEAM IS REAL SERIOUS ABOUT REBUILDING? The Rocket are the mostpopular team for a trade this year. Carmello and Pauls team should be seriously salivating at the possible lottery pick in the high top 10 range for two years straight from Houston even if they dont really want to move these two guys. Those two picks alone might be worth one of thes guys because if noboy gets these pcks? Rockets could turn this into a young superteam with young talent thats not even their primes yet all one roster from these two picks plus what we already have if the Knicks tank.
