We all know this event is past its prime and that it's bad TV, but since there is nothing else on, I always end up watching at least part of it. Anyone else gonna give it a shot? Who ya got?
Better question: What are the drinking games associated? Chris Berman's calls are so repetitive that you can get drunk off him saying that a ball was hit to Tucson or Sedona, or whatever.

Sounds like a duck to me. <object width="425" height="349"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3ZR9SQj272Y?version=3&hl=en_US=1&start=9"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3ZR9SQj272Y?version=3&hl=en_US=1&start=9" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="349" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
That video hit on all of my Chris Berman Home Run Derby pet peeves. The incessant "back, back, back", the naming of the suburbs and the joke about how a certain homer was only a "two-backer" since he could only say back, back before it left. He has been using that joke since the late-90s and tells it every year like it's the first time he has thought of it.
Not even watching it, in fact, I'm making an effort not to. HR Derby is always terrible, plus Berman gets on my nerves when I used to like him before. His antics get tiring fast.
I don't enjoy this event near as much as I used to. Part of that is because I'm older, part of it is because Chris Berman's act is beyond old and part of it is because these guys take it too seriously now. Back in the day, I used to love to watch guys like Griffey and Mike Piazza laughing and cutting up the entire time. Now, David Ortiz takes a Gatorade break ever four swings, demands the in-house music be changed and huddles up with his team to discuss "strategy" and almost everyone insists on taking BP in the cage before they step in as if this is the World Series.
Am I the only one that's surprised at how well Robinson Cano is doing? I definitely didn't see him as HR Derby winner material, but he has a legit shot now.
Atleast they have some hot girls in a swimming pool. That automatically makes it better than last years derby
Aren't there charity balls in the final round? Hey, screw the charity! He just won a meaningless HR derby!
Does anybody care? Who watches that? In general, the AS games/weekends for all major sports are jokes in one way or another. It doesn't take that much creativity to make this stuff less than a snoozefest.
