I wish he had stayed focused in the first set, then he could have won.

Roger really blew it in the first set when he couldn't capitalize being up 5-1 on Nadal. He also had some decent chances (but not as good as he did in the first set) in the second set. Nadal is just too good, especially on clay to let him back in it. It is often been said that Federer is the greatest player in men's tennis ever; however, he is now 8-17 against Nadal in his career. When are people going to start saying that Nadal is the greatest player in men's tennis ever?

I might start a thread (not today) very soon asking the board who they think is the greatest men's tennis player ever. My shortlist for now is the following:

    Rod Laver
    Bjorn Borg
    John McEnroe
    Roger Federer
    Rafael Nadal
    Pete Sampras
    Ivan Lendl
    Bill Tilden

Wouldn't you love to see an 8 man tournament of all of those dudes in their prime - who would win?

It's almost impossible to compare the wood racket era greats to the big racket era greats. I hated Sampras - but in my book he takes the big racket era. Federer just never impressed me - no real competition. Who did he beat when he rolled for like four years?

    37 year old Agassi?
    Marat Safin?
    David Nalbandian?
    Lleyton Hewitt?
    Andy Roddick?

Once Djokovic and Nadal came up, you could see that there were weaknesses in his game.

On the other hand, watching Sampras beat an incredibly talented Agassi on his game was amazing (and depressing). He just rose to another level, and it seemed like he never missed a critical shot or serve.
