Bushue has been in Lexington for 2 years already, time to move on.

Probably straight to Corpus, no need to banish him to Lancaster

He had, surprised to see him promoted and Austin Wates sitting in Lancaster. Sure hope it isn't because of Steele, the kid looks the part but is now hitting under .200.

Cosart goes to the mound today, he will be trying to recover from his last start. I imagine, the Stros will be watching his pitch count but wouldn't mind seeing him have a nice long start.

By the way, Obie had a nice start yesterday...4 innings, 2 runs, 2 hits, 3 bb and 6 k. Double headers are only 7 innings in the minors so while his pitch count was rather high, 76 pitches, he could have gone another two but I guess they wanted to be careful with him.

Dont know anything about the guy, but 3 bb in 4 innings looks a bit worrisome to me.

Brett Oberholtzer, one of the pitchers we got for Bourn. Yea, 3 walks and a hit batter increased his pitch count. He has had good control this season, so I wouldn't worry to much but certainly something to look at.

His 6 strikeouts are interesting, he hasn't been a SO guy but 5 of the 6 were swinging, which is a good sign. Another good sign is a 4-1 GO/FO ratio, combined with the Ks...a good outing minus the control issues.

Austin Wates certainly deserves the opportunity. There is a good chance he is the Astros future CF.

Dan Adamson was moved up from Lexington to take Adam Bailey's spot. Lancaster now has 3 outfielders: Adamson, Wates, and Grant Hogue.

Alex Todd, the 27th-round pick from June, was also assigned to Lancaster from Greeneville.

To take Todd's spot in Greeneville, Jean Carlos Batista was promoted from the Gulf Coast League club.

Also, Tri-City starting pitcher Euris Quezada received a 25-game suspension due to a violation of the Minor League Drug Program. There's 24 games left, so Quezada will sit out the first game of next season, regardless of the team that he is assigned to. Apparently he had a syringe without team permission. No word on what was in there, if there was anything at all.

Quezada, a 22-year-old Dominican, is 1-3 with a 6.95 ERA and a 2.08 WHIP in 33 2/3 innings (9 starts) this season. He has allowed 45 hits (1 homer), walked 24, and struck out 24.

OKC was held to 4 hits while being shut out 3-0 by Colorado Springs. Anderson Hernandez had 2 of the hits. Andy Van Hekken went 5 2/3, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, walking 2 and fanning 4.

Corpus had an epic fail.... blowing a 7-1 lead to Springfield by allowing 5 in the 8th and the tying run in the 9th, and eventually walked off 8-7 losers in 12. T.J. Steele had a 2-run homer in the 4th, his 9th. Kody Hinze drove in 2. Adam Bailey was 2-6 with an RBI, and Brian Esposito drove in 1. Jarred Cosart went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, striking out 1. Chris Hicks and Josh Zeid were victimized in the 8th, and Jason Stoffel allowed the game-tying homer in the bottom of the 9th. Dan Meszaros allowed the run in the 12th for the loss.

Lexington was postponed. Doubleheader with Augusta manana.

Tri-City's bats were out in full force in a 14-3 thrashing of Hudson Valley. Justin Gominsky and Miguel Arrendell drove in 3 each. Zach Johnson went 2-5 with 2 RBI and scored twice, and Matt Duffy, Ryan McCurdy, and Rafael Valenzuela drove in 1 each. Jamaine Cotton allowed 2 runs on 4 hits (solo homer), walking 1 and striking out 3.

Greeneville scored the first 5 runs in their 7-4 win over Bristol. Jean Carlos Batista made his Greeneville debut tonight, batting 2nd and playing short. He went 2-5 with a double, 2 RBI, and scored twice. Ariel Ovando had a 2-run homer in the 1st, his 2nd. He also added another RBI. Darwin Rivera also had a 2-run homer. The blast in the 4th was his 3rd. Tyson Perez allowed 1 run on 3 hits (solo homer) in 5, striking out 7.

The Gulf Coasters fell 7-4 to the Nationals. Yonathan Mejia and Wallace Gonzalez drove in 1 apiece. Enderson Franco allowed 1 run on 6 hits in 5, striking out 4. Steve Dennison got the loss, allowing 6 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits, getting 2 outs in the 7th.

In the late game, Lancaster was crushed by San Jose 16-3. Andrew Simunic had a solo homer in the 8th, his 2nd. Jonathan Singleton and Grant Hogue drove in 1 as well. Wes Musick allowed 4 runs on 5 hits (2-run homer) in 3 innings, striking out 2. Bobby Doran was roughed up, allowing 2 in the 7th, then 5 more in the 8th without retiring a Giant. He served up 2 homers in his outing.

Ross Seaton has his 2nd straight dominant game for CC. He has actually been better over the 2nd half of the season but the last two starts have been fantastic. Hopefully, he is FINALLY getting "it" but at least his potential is beginning to show.

    7 innings 4 hits 1 run 6 k 0 bb and 8/3 GO/FO...Tonight

    6 innings 3 hits 0 run 6 k 2 bb and 7/2 GO/FO...Prior start

Guy is only 21, 22 on opening day next year.

Most 1st rounders won't sign until tomorrow evening and Armstrong was always going to go down to the wire.

We will sign Springer. I doubt they will give Armstrong 1st round slot money that he wants, but if Armstrong is willing to settle for 500k, it could get done.

I think Armstrong signs for close to what Austin Wates got...775k. The fact he came and took a physical means he at least is interested and 775k would be bottom half of the 1st/supplemental round type cash.

If he does sign, I'd expect him to fly through the system rather quickly...if healthy of course.

I disagree, he wasn't a star at Vandy. He had a great year in the Cape Cod League in 2010, but was very pedestrian this year. He has very good athleticism, stuff, and body type, but he hasn't put it all together yet. If they put him in the bullpen, he would rise through the system much faster, but they will try him as a starter first.
