JA Happ has nine freaking lives...people are getting traded/sent down left and right and that fool still in the rotation with a 6+ era.

It's also sad how far the Astros have fallen. Ha, really is.

When is Happ going to get sent down? Send him down too.

I think if it was truly a choice between Lee and Wallace, Lee would be gone. Unfortunately Wallace can go, but we have nowhere to put Lee. He makes too much money.

Also, Wallace didn't really have a good first half. He had a good first month. All down hill since.

I know JB Shuck has ZERO power but plays good defense and gets on base, suprised not to see him up. That said, Lee's days in the OF are probably over and so they need a corner OF.

I can see Austin Wates getting moved up now to CC, it's time. He looks like Bourn with a little less speed and a bit more power.

This also all but confirms that OKC is nothing, AA is the last step of development before the bigs. Feel bad for OKC, also tells me we will see Keuchel, Cosart, Clemens, Sosa and Oberholtzer VERY soon...2012.

Sosa with a pretty poor outing tonight. Too bad as he was looking stout since coming over.

I don't like to think the org is thinking this way but this almost reeks of giving CLee exclusive playing time at 1st to boost his trade value. He will pass through waivers so playing him at 1st exclusivly would showcase him enough to a contender.

I think the haul for Pence was very good. Two of the top prospects for Pence is very good. Zeid is a good arm, I could see him being a valuable bullpen arm (not really what a rebuilding team needs).

The Astros were absolutely raped. There is very little upside to this deal. It adds depth to the system, but that is it.
Wade is a desperate man, and not a very good GM.

The system got better in the short term, but the key is to continue to develop and draft well, especially in the middle rounds and through international free agents.

Astros really need to sign Armstrong and Springer. Also, the drafts since 2007 have not been all that good, mediocre... especially when considering the emphasis put on the draft the last few years.

    Yup

Wallace and Chris Johnson sent to the minors tonight. Wow, makes me wonder who is really pulling the strings over at the office. Big loss of face on the Wallace demotion I think. Didn't Wade say he was a hitting machine? Whoops.

Ha. Still trying to wrap my head around this. Im not sure if I should be shocked about this but I kinda am. I dont want to be over-traumatic or over emphasize anything but Wallace was THE guy. THE guy at 1B. This isnt to say he still cant be but this cant be good for himself or the Astros. Again, dont want to be over-traumatic or over emphasize anything but you traded Gose for Wallace(although he(AG) isnt having that great of a year - is that correct? So I've heard anyways..). Not that Berkman would be any help to this team but you said no to him in the offseason(a decision I agreed with, thought it was time to move on) because you had no room and/or he'd be taking playing time/at-bats away from Wallace, Bogusevic, and Jack Shuck. For now, Wallace isnt your guy at 1B, Carlos Lee is. Oh well, I guess. Bring on the Corpus guys! Cant get much worse.

I've noticed that about OKC as well. It's now simply the place that the veteran minor leaguers and not quite prospects end up once the get optioned back to the minors. I know that that's not all that uncommon, but the Astros take it to a whole new level.

So where is Cosart being assigned to? When is Singleton joining Lancaster?

Hopefully the return for Bourn turns out better than the return the 'Stros got for Oswalt.

  :( ...the feelings associated with the Astros the past few years.

Can I nominate Adam Bailey as an honorable mention?

I like Adam Bailey a lot too. I remember watching him play in college. He was just about the only bright spot on some absolutely wretched Nebraska teams a couple years back.

Speaking of Nebraska, maybe it got mentioned somewhere in these forums, but former Astros Darin Erstad is their new head baseball coach.

Ed Wade announces he will deal Oswalt. Astros have a shot at Shelby Miller (top 6 prospect in baseball) for him, but Drayton does not want to pay any of Oswalt's salary.

Astros trade Oswalt for Happ, Villar and Goose. Astros also pay a large part of Oswalt's salary.

Astros then trade Goose for Wallace.

Goose is 20 years old and doing wekl this season.

    Happ has a 6 era

    Wallace is in the minors.

    Shelby is doing great

    Astros are paying.... Oswalt.

I can see why it is hard to wrap your head around....

Hey... lets not even get into Wade making Meyers and Wandy impossible to move.

It's Gose, and he is really not doing that well. 110 K's in 383 AA AB's is brutal.

He has nearly 50 sbs in 100 games

He does strike out a lot... but he also walks a lot for a leadoff hitter ar 20 yrs old in AA

He is developing power as well.

I did not say he is a top 10 prospect in all of baseball.... but I will take him over Wallace.
