From what I've gathered on Twitter, Matt Duffy, Brandon Meredith, John Hinson, undrafted free agent Neiko Johnson, and last year's 30th-round pick, former Stanford OF Kellen Kiilsgaard look to be on the roster.
What does Kody Hinze have to do to be promoted? Keeping him in Lancaster is officially laughable at this point. He's the organization's best power bat right now and should be promoted after the Cali League All-Star game. Jimmy Van Ostrand is 26 and while he is playing alright, he's pretty much minor league filler at this point.
He must have a hole in his swing because even if he was a butcher at 1st, his bat alone would have warranted a promotion. Honestly think the Stros forgot about the guy haha.
Can't say I'm not a little disappointed in how last year's top picks have done so far. Deshields is showing some promising power but is batting 210 and striking out a quarter of the time. Foltynewicz got the win tonight with 1 er in 6 ip, but allowed ten baserunners and struck out 0 batters. For the year he has a 4.61 era and about a 4.5/9 k/ip and about a 1.25/1 K/BB ratios. they're teenagers 2 months into their careers so nothing to completely freak out about yet, but still not the kind of start you'd hope for. Actually aside from Lyles and Altuve it's been a fairly mediocre year for the team's top prospects. not the step forwards so far that you'd hope for with the mlb struggling
We fans can hope they develop at an accelerated rate but in reality them developing on pace (4-6 years) or even just not busting immediately is a significant accomplishment. Given that our farm system hasn't proven its worth in player development, keeping low expectations is probably better.
OKC swept a doubleheader with Albuquerque, winning the first game 2-0 with RBIs from J.B. Shuck and Oswaldo Navarro. Wes Wright allowed 1 hit in 4 innings, walking 2, and striking out 3. Dan Meszaros got the win in relief, pitching 1 2/3 innings, allowing 2 hits, striking out 1. They took game 2 5-3. Brian Dopirak homered, while Tommy Manzella and Brian Bogusevic each drove in 2. Nelson Figueroa allowed 7 hits and 3 runs (2 earned) in 5 1/3 to get the win. He walked 3 and fanned 7. Jeff Fulchino retired the only batter he faced. Corpus fell behind 5-0 to San Antonio and were never really in the game, scoring their runs in the 7th and 8th to make the score respectable. Hooks lose 7-3. Brandon Wikoff got the start at short and went 2-5 with and RBI. The other RBIs came from T.J. Steele and Emerson Frostad. Ross Seaton allowed 8 hits (2 homers) and 5 runs in 5 to get the loss. He walked 2 and fanned 1. One after his monster night, Kody Hinze got a hat-trick, whiffing in all 3 of his at-bats and walking one other time. Lancaster was held to 5 hits in their 6-4 loss to Lake Elsinore. Jose Thompson had 2 RBI, and Andrew Simunic and Erik Castro drove in the other runs. Robby Donovan allowed 9 hits (2 homers) and 6 runs in 5 1/3, getting the loss. He walked 2 and struck out 6. Lexington defeated Augusta 5-2. Balanced effort, as 5 guys drove in the 5 runs: Delino DeShields, Enrique Hernandez (who went 3-4), Chris Wallace (who tripled), Ben Orloff (who was hitless), and Jordan Scott. As stated in DoItDickau's post, Mike Foltynewicz allowed 1 run in 6 to get the win. He did show flashes in short-season ball, and it isn't overly surprising that he hasn't set the world on fire in his first full pro season. He did have a rough April, but he's pitched reasonably well in May and June. Folty has had 2 outings over the past month and a half that were truly bad. One was May 11 against Kannapolis and the other was 2 Fridays ago against West Virginia.
Not bad, but not great either. Needs to cut down on strikeouts, increase walks, and show a little more power. JD Martinez has been in a slump since he came of the DL.

Tellitlikeitis will bring you tonight's action but Dallas Kuechel has become the Kody Hinze of AA. What is he doing at Corpus, send this kid to AAA. He doesn't seem to have devastating stuff but knows how to pitch, like to seem him in September or at least get invited to ST next season.
Andy Van Hekken held Albuquerque to an unearned run and 3 hits in 7 in OKC's 2-1 victory. He walked 1 and fanned 7 Isotopes. Robinson Cancel and Koby Clemens provided the RBIs. Yeah, I think rockets934life calling Dallas Keuchel the Kody Hinze of AA is an accurate assessment. He was charged with the loss despite allowing 1 run in 7. That's because Corpus couldn't even manage to get a run across. With the loss, Keuchel falls to 4-6 with a 2.99 ERA. Opponents are hitting .241 off him. In 75 1/3 innings, he's allowed 67 hits and fanned 38 against 18 walks. That translates to a whip of 1.13. Eh, I think he needs to boost the K rate to the 6-6.5 range, but since the average age of OKC's starters is about 95, he probably needs to be in Oklahoma City after June 28. Hooks limited to 4 hits in the 1-0 loss; hat trick for Jonathan Villar. The Hooks finish the first half with the worst record in the Texas League at 23-41, 22 games behind San Antonio in the South Division. Lancaster got thumped by Lake Elsinore 7-1, as Austin Wates provided the only RBI for the Jethawks. Andrew Robinson got the bare minimum quality start, but had to settle for a loss as his offense failed to provide any support. He walked 3 and struck out 2, allowing 5 hits, one of which was a 2-run homer. Lancaster finishes their first half as the worst in the Cali League, at 26-39, 11 games behind Rancho Cucamonga in the South Division. RBIs from Mike Kvasnicka and Jio Mier constituted the only offense for Lexington, but Ruben Alaniz held Augusta to 4 hits and a run over 6 2/3 to get the win in a 2-1 Legends victory. And with that, the first half of the Sally League season concludes, with Lexington finishing in 3rd in the Southern Division, 8.5 behind Savannah. Also, some good news for the Legends, as they're expecting Telvin Nash back sometime soon. http://blog.chron.com/ultimateastro...-league-updates-nashs-injury-tri-city-roster/ In yesterday's Dominican Summer League game, the Astros fell to the Dodgers 5-1. The Astros committed 7 errors, and Yoel Silfa's solo homer constituted the offense. Agapito Barrios allowed 2 unearned runs in 6 2/3 to take the loss. He allowed 5 hits and fanned 4. Today, they defeated the Pirates 7-6 in 13. Juan Santana went 3-6 with 2 RBI. Cristian Murillo also went 3-6 with an RBI and scored twice. Tomas De La Cruz hit a solo homer, and Silfa and Juan Solano each had an RBI. Reymin Guduan allowed 1 hit and 2 runs in 5, but he walked 7. Yeudy Perdomo pitched 4 no-hit innings in relief, walking 1 and and striking out 5. Alexander Martinez got the win, pitching 3 innings after Perdomo. He allowed 2 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and fanned 5. Also, the Pirates sent out a guy from India to pitch today. His name is Rinku Singh, and he was the winner of this contest back in 2008: http://www.themilliondollararm.com/
Zachary Levine: Urckfitz was 1-4 with a 2.59 ERA in 22 appearances with Corpus. In 31 1/3 innings (all in relief), he allowed 30 hits (2 homers), walked 18, and struck out 25. That translates to a 1.54 WHIP.
Anyway, McTaggart tweeted the same thing, but also adds that Collin DeLome has been activated from the 7-Day DL and Brian Esposito was activated from the Temporary Inactive List. So, no Keuchel in OKC for the time being.
Pat Urckfitz's AAA debut was forgettable, to say the least. He entered the game in the 8th, with OKC trailing Albuquerque 3-2. He left the inning with OKC in a grave, as the deficit swelled to 7-2. In his inning of work, he allowed 4 runs on 4 hits, walking 2 while failing to record a K. The Redhawks would go on to lose 8-2. RBIs from Anderson Hernandez and Brian Bogusevic were the only runs for OKC. Sergio Perez allowed 8 hits and 3 runs in 5 2/3, getting the loss. He walked 3 and fanned 4. A solid night for Corpus Christi's pitchers, as they held Frisco to 3 hits in their 5-2 victory. Erick Abreu, the winner, allowed 2 hits (1 solo homer) in his 7 innings, walking 1 and fanning 7. The only blemish on his outing was a 4th inning homer for Frisco's Tommy Mendonca. Jimmy Paredes and Jose Altuve each went 2-4 with a run scored, and Paredes edged out Altuve 2-1 in RBIs. J.D. Martinez and Jimmy Van Ostrand had the other RBIs. CC scored 3 in the 7th to put the game out of reach. T.J. Steele doubled to lead off the inning. Jonathan Gaston singled, and Steele moved to 3rd. Steele came home off Van Ostrand's single. Then Emerson Frostad singled to load the bases. After a pitching change for Frisco, Jonathan Villar struck out. Then, Paredes singled, driving in Van Ostrand and Gaston. Paredes would be thrown out later trying to stretch. Rough night for Lancaster pitchers.. oh right, it's the Cali League. Jose Cisnero allowed 6 runs while only lasting 1 2/3 to get the loss as the Jethawks dropped the series opener to Inland Empire 13-7. Andrew Simunic went 3-4 with 2 RBI and scored 3 times. Austin Wates also drove in 2 while going 2-5. Kody Hinze had the night off, in case anyone was wondering. Lexington shut down Rome 2-0. RBIs from Chris Wallace and Enrique Hernandez proved to be the difference. Delino DeShields went 0-5 with a K. He's in yet another slump that's dropped his average to .205. Luis Cruz allowed 4 hits through 5 1/3, walking 1 and striking out 2 to get the win. The rains have returned to the Dominican Republic, postponing the Astros' game against the Rays. All but 1 game was postponed in the league today. We're 19 hours away from short-season Opening Day. Tri-City will begin their New York-Penn League title defense at home as they take on the Vermont Lake Monsters.
