I think they should stick to showing all of them only at the end. Think its more dramatic that way. The way they did it yesterday with Hanks running up on stage and announcing it within a few seconds was very very lame.
I'm surprised she didn't thank James Cameron. He also produced/written for her other good movie Point Break that she also should've/could've won that year and it was also him that told her to direct The Hurt Locker.
I boycotted the Oscars because the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences is a con artist. Also, because my opinions on movies are far superior to the Academy, and to the feeble minds of movie-goers here at cf.net. I have now come to the Internet to boast about my non-participation in such an event. I snub my nose at anyone who disagrees with my subjective views on cinema!
I didn't catch it but apparently there are some rumblings today that Farrah Fawcett was not in the montage for the James Taylor performance and remembrance even though she died last June. It mentioned they dwindle down a list of 100 names to 20 or 30 for the montage...but leave out Farrah Fawcett and put in Michael Jackson? That is pretty strange if you ask me.
I wonder what kind of odds you could have gotten 5 years ago that one day Sandra Bullock and Mo'Nique would win Best Actress/Best Supporting Actress in the same year.
i am still in shock that they both won their respective categories esp monique considering the movies she had been in before this.
Ditto but at least from what I've seen Monique put in very impressive work in that movie, Bullock on the other hand I just don't understand. I haven't seen that movie but it looks like sentimental drivel and I just can't imagine being blown away by that type of role. I actually thought Streep was very deserving for her work as Julia Child.
Agree Precious was a far cry from what mo'nique normally does and from the people who i know who've seen the film they said she was great in it. i dont get the bullock win i know the studio was huge in pushing her i guess they got their wish and "influenced" the right number of voters because there was nothing about her performance in it that was left me thinking "oh man that was amazing" when compared to the previous winners
I hear you man, it just felt like, oh that Sandy Bullock is so lovable and at least she tried this time....
I agree about Streep. I was wondering how much Bullock actually deserved it as well but, as some have eluded to, it's not scientific and can play out like a popularity contest. Bullock has made a long string of basically forgettable, albeit (some) enjoyable, movies. She is like a second-rate Reese Witherspoon or something. The part itself probably wasn't that big of a stretch for her acting-wise. She made it her own by probably just turning on some of her Southern charm while adding some grit. I still need to see the film. The question I have was...was it really a stretch for Streep to play Child? She seemed built for that role. If she can just put on a comfortable glove like that, then maybe she wasn't all that deserving. We haven't really seen Sandra in too many serious roles...so maybe she proved something to audiences that she can be more than comic relief. I did like her performance in "Murder by Numbers" I think it was. I look forward to seeing her in this film.
