'Tis the era of the Gangs of the NBA. You got the Crips in the West, the Blood in the Southeast, and there is brooding of Latin Kings starting in NY.
Also wanted to mention that if Melo rejects his extension offer, which I think he will... he's as good as gone. We can then do a SnT package for him and try to convince him to stay by saying we will trade for Chris Paul.
How'd that work out with Chris Bosh? Seriously, we need to trade for a guy that is already under contract and not a free agent, someone like CP3 or Danny Granger.
Durant just signed a max extension with the Thunder. It didn't get enough coverage with all the LeBrick hooplah.
What, so we should never go after any big name player because Bosh didn't choose us? NO GM already said he wasn't trading CP3. Melo is a different case because Denver will be open to offers if Melo rejects the extension.
If Yao is healthy and we make it to the WCF things could change and help us recruit a free agency....biggest mystery in sports, Yao's health.
Naw, that's not what I mean at all. It's just hard for free agents to come play for Houston because of several question marks.
Also, we need Yao to be proactive and call guys around the league to come join him. Amare is working hard to recruit in NY, he's probably already talked to CP3 and Melo.
Throw in Jermey Lin and Mengke Bateer and we got our new starting five. Then we can sign Yuta Tabuse and Chen Jianghua for the bench. And with plenty of cap to spare.
If we trade for Melo this season, make a deep conference run, and then tell Melo to tell CP3 to come here, I don't see how he bails for NY.
Just throwing things out there because who knows what is next after this? The scary thing about this is, this thing could have possibly been talked about since Beijing. Bosh said a long time ago he thought about...but thought it was never possible...next thing you know the Heat are dropping players like flies. Bosh said yesterday something about the months leading up to this date... So if there is a rumour that Melo and CP3 want to team up together, I am believing it. If Melo doesn't renew and CP3 starts demanding a trade, then i'm sure those guys are talking about where they can go.
Yao needs to get signed ( He needs to be MVP like good this year or at least from the AS break through playoffs). Melo would need to resign (for less too). CP# will want the Max. If we resign Scola for mosre than 1 year his contract will not be easy to move unless it's less than say, $7 mil. Lowry too. we have to really clear the books for 2011.
Difference is that CP3 isn't a free agent and won't be until 2013. CP3 just can't one day decide that he wants to play with Melo and make it happen like Bosh or LeBrick did with Wade. He has to wait and I just don't see Melo being patient for that long. Best way for us to aquire a star is most probably around or before the deadline for a player already under contract such as CP3 or Danny Granger.
