Adam Schefter is reporting Bradford will get $50M guaranteed. A rookie cap is sorely needed IMO. Also, Dolphins traded Ted Ginn Jr. to 49ers for a 5th rounder today. I thought the 49ers could take Dez Bryant with one of their 1st rounders, I wonder how that changes things, if it does.
Wow, 50 mil... that is sick. Also, TGJ... who drafted that guy? Does he still have a job? Talk about crappy ROI.
The Dolphins drafted Ginn with the 9th overall pick, I remember laughing out loud when they announced the pick.
http://www.draftdaddy.com/MD/draft2010.htm I don't see much here to disagree with. He is making a judgment call on KC that could change things and it looks like Brandon Graham is the most fallen value. Trent Williams may be a little high. Tennessee Titans - DE Jason Pierre-Paul, South Florida Titans have a solid program for molding defensive line talent, JPP is raw but gifted. == 17. Dallas Cowboys - OT Anthony Davis, Rutgers Cowboys need linemen, Davis was considered an elite pick early but still very good prospect. == 28. San Diego Chargers - DT Terrence Cody, Alabama Chargers lose Jamal Williams and need to restock at nose tackle. Cody is underrated. == 29. New York Jets - DB Taylor Mays, Southern California Jets don't have alot of holes; Mays is a big hitter and could be protected in Rex's 46 looks. == 30. Minnesota Vikings - QB Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame Clausen could have a rough go of it on draft day. Vikings could stop the slide or trade down. == 31. Indianapolis Colts - OLB Jerry Hughes, Texas Christian Colts don't have depth behind Freeney. Hughes is undersized and fast, Colts type of defender. == 32. New Orleans Saints - DE Everson Griffen, Southern California With Charles Grant gone, Saints can develop Griffen as a pass rusher in their 4-3 defense.
That would be Cam Cameron, who was 1 and done after that 1-15 debacle. He's over in Baltimore now running their offense. The man who justified the picking of a glorified punt returner at number 9 overall by assuring reporters he "comes from a good family".
From Adam Wexler's Twitter... @awexler: Falls in w/ what we've been saying, but we'll see RT @WesBunting: Hearing #Texans LOVE Kyle Wilson. Will take Ryan Mathews if he's not there
Seems like lots of teams release bogus info about their preferences to game the draft... taking that one with a grain of salt.
Hope your wrong if this is true.... @MrMichael_Smith: One source told me "he's the closest thing to Revis in this draft" RT @Greg_A_Bedard: @YahooSportsNFL Wilson better cover guy than Haden
so more people think wilson is better than mccourty now? Just the other day, John McClain thinks mccourty is slightly better than wilson....
I think Wilson is consistently rated as the better CB, however, McCourty's stock has been rising pretty significantly where they could be #2A/2B in terms of CB rankings. But it's almost impossible to believe anything coming out of teams right now, it's all about smokescreens and leverage at this point.
KC has spent a #3 and #5 overall pick on their DL the past 2 years, I can't see them using another Top 5 on one, especially considering the talent available at LT and their need for one. Odrick to the Browns is a pretty bold pick as well, I think they'll take Haden if available.
Just the other day McClain was also saying he was going to go on a diet... You have to take everything he says with a grain, or in his case, several buckets of salt he sprinkles on those extra large orderS of fries
I expect the Texans to draft Kyle Wilson if he's there. He is an impressive shut down corner, he'd instantly be the best CB on the Texans roster (not really saying much, but when you can add that kind of value, you need to pull the trigger). Matthews would be a great Plan B pick, I think he's the best runner in this draft, if they don't get him... Montario Hardesty is gonna make some noise wherever he lands, Texans would be wise to take a look at him in round 3 if he's there and they need a back still, he'd fit in with a ZBS team like a glove. He's around the 5th rated back on most mocks, which is because of his injury history. I think Spiller is a bit overrated, and I'm not big on Gerhart either. I think he'll have to deal with the fact that the NFL hasn't had a superstar RB who was white in like 25 years.
For the most part agree. I have Mathews slightly higher than Wilson as I think he really fits the offense. Mathews, Wilson, and Thomas are my wish list for the first pick in that order. If not them, I'm hoping for a trade down for one of the other corners.
There is no question that an elite cover corner is a pressing matter over a runner for Houston, which is the main reason I think they need to go Wilson provided that he is there.
Houston was 11th in Yrds/pass attempt last season on defense. That ain't bad considering the Texans played Indy twice and had a weak pass rush for half the year (Barwin and Smith played better in the second half of the season). Maybe you are of the opinion that Dunta was worth his deal. Houston was 31st in Yds/carry last season on offense. While this is also the fault of the interior line, the RBs didn't help. Losing Dunta does put the Texans in a precarious position of playing ome that sucks more, but so does having Rosenfels at RB. The Texans were 6th in coughing it up.
Everybody seems to clearly have Wilson listed as the #2 corner, but as much love as he seems to be getting leading up to the draft (i.e. better cover man than Haden - pretty important for a corner), I'm thinking it might be a situation where he is the first corner taken instead of Haden. People sometimes give the media "draft charts" a bit too much love as the final word in what order people are ranked by teams, IMO. Every year there are one or two very obvious flip flops over conventional wisdom. To wit, one of the Yahoo Sports NFL writers via twitter: [rquoter] Don't be shocked if Boise State's Kyle Wilson is the 1st cornerback drafted. His stock is up, & many teams like him over Florida's Joe Haden [/rquoter] Even if not, as much love as he's been receiving from all around, it seems pretty possible to me that as the #2 corner he is gone before the Texans come around. People seem to count it almost as a lock that he will be available as a great value pick. If he's that valuable at that important a position, I have trouble believing he'll be there.
I agree with your assessment of facts, and I think Dunta Robinson even as a shell of his former self is still an average cornerback. Not Pro Bowl caliber by any means, but probably at least good enough to start. I do not think he was worth the money the Falcons paid him, few players ever really end up earning their free agent deals. My rationale for thinking the Texans should pick Wilson over Matthews is that I think there is a bigger dropoff from Wilson to the 2nd-3rd round CBs then there is from Ryan Matthews to the 2-3 round RBs. I'm not convinced that Matthews is leaps and bounds better than guys like Tate or Hardesty who run hard and run well, but I am of the opinion that Kyle Wilson is going to be a good one.
