Um... He literally IS in the top 3 in scoring, behind Durant and James. So if you can't accept he is top three...you fail at life, pretty much.
That's enough for us to declare war on them. And we have the Air Force an hour away. I like our odds.
I'm guessing that Melo commercial is a clever Nike ad and we'll see it lead somewhere during the playoffs.
I seriously think that Carmelo might be the best offensive player in the NBA. He's so underrated and always overlooked at by D-Wade, Kobe, and LeBron. This guy is huge, he could post up, hit the mid-range jumper, or pull off that 3. He could give it to you anyway you want it.
You'd think, with the offensive skills he has, he would develop a better all-around game. That is, rebounding, assists, and block. He is certainly athletic enough to try to be LeBron.
Nope. He's phenomenal on offense, absolutely amazing at times, but he doesn't have the consistency or temperament that LeBron, Kobe or D-Wade do. He's behind both LeBron and Kobe by a bit, and while he's close to Wade (mainly due to versatility), Wade's still the better scorer. Honestly, I think Melo's passing is dramatically underrated. He was amazing passing the ball his rookie year, but we surrounded him with so many brick-layers that he got frustrated. Since then, he's kind of reined in his passing skills -- which is a shame considering the team surrounding him now. Rebounding, well, that's just effort. And let's not kid ourselves, Melo doesn't always put out the max effort. Last night was nice because it was the Melo from last season and the playoffs. I honestly thought Melo had a better year last year than this one -- even though his scoring went up quite a bit this year. Last year he was more focused on D. The last two months of the regular season he was sleepwalking on D. Now that the playoffs have kicked in, he's back. But until he can put out a more consistent effort during the 82 regular season games, he'll never be one of the top tier players.
RT @tribjazz We'll learn more at practice in a little bit, but I'm hearing indications Mehmet Okur ruptured his Achilles last night.
It won't matter a whole lot this series, but in the 2nd round against the Lakers, the Nuggets are going to need Melo's "A" effort every game. If he comes through, they have a decent shot to advance. If not, the Nuggets will go down in 5 or 6. As far as setting up for the Lakers, I'm not sure if this (now) easy road against the Jazz is a good thing.
With Okur and AK47 out, Denver gets a pass this series. There is no excuse for them not to finish this series in 5 or at most 6 games.
Agreed 100%. That said, we still have to beat Utah. Yeah, they have injuries, but we're dumb and led by Dantley. I'm not counting any chickens until they hatch.
