Dirk is not in the league of Duncan or Kobe. The Mavs were deeper and had more talent.

They would be better off with Bogut than Bosh for sure. They need a real C, that's better than Dampier. Dirk needs to learn to bang with the PGs and get a few rebounds and blocks from the munchkins.

They played very poor basketball and I think they were terribly coached. This has more influence on the game.

Has any other team lost from both the number one and number two slots?

People have a habit on here of blaming the "best player in the series" for first round losses. :)

whats funny in all of this is that the Mavs lost to both the first ever #8 seed and now the #7 seed in a best of 7 series

I love it when Dallas loses. Even more than when Utah loses.

ia m so happy the spurs be those trashy mavbricks i hate the dallas mavbricks so much i hope mark cuban never wins a title as owner of that franchise; it is time to totally rebuild in dallas dirk is aging kidd is 37 and soon will be retiring; build the team around caron butler and dirk but bring in more young , fresh legs; keep ronald dubeouis and make him a rotation player next year, trade deshawn stevenson, erick dampier, and if possible jj barea for a solid backup center; a starting lineup of kidd dubeouis, butler dirk and haywood would be interesting next year; with marion, terry and barea of the bench/backup center

Dirk had one bad rebounding game and that's the new reason he's a puthy or choker? Hasn't he averaged like 12 rebounds a game his entire NBA playoff career. Coming into this game his averages in elimination games, which happen to be pretty pressure filled, was something like 28 and 13.

And yeah! Dirk needs to play like a true post player, Tim Duncan! Duncan pwns Dirk still., I mean. Being so close to the basket, he shoots much better and is a far more efficient player at this point. Wait. What? Dirk shot 62% tonight? All the while taking nothing but those puthy shots that have made him a HOF'er? Well surely Duncan shot at least 63%. What? 47%?!

Dirk could score 55 points, grab 32 rebounds, dish out 12 assists. If the Mavs lost, it'd be Dirk's fault. Supporting cast never has any blame. Who cares that:
    Kidd 1-6
    Terry 1-7
    Marion 3-8

Butler was the only other starter/regular contributor that showed up. Beaubois was awesome and the Mavs would have won tonight if Carlisle hadn't subbed Terry in for Roddy the majority of the 4th quarter.

I don't know how anyone can blame Dirk for the Mavs losing this time. Sure he got 4 fouls in the 1st half but the dude shot 13/21 and ended up with 33 points.

The blame should be put on 60% of their starting lineup: Marion, Kidd, and their center du jour.

Bill Simmons' line about Kidd in his column today summed it up best:

For a guy that finally found an outside shot after being in the league for 14+ years, Kidd sure was gun shy against the Spurs.

That still doesn't change the fact that Kobe and Duncan have 4 rings and Dirk has none. It's true that his teammates let him down, however he is not in that elite ring of champions.

    Isn't he/she?

Lhutz was funny, but this guy/girl is mentally incompetent. Then again, so is Sarah Palin.
