Dirk got his numbers and that's what people will mention in the future, but once again, it was very deceptive. In all three games in San Antonio, with the game on the line, when the Mavs went to him, he came empty. When your star player is a 7 footer who fades against shorter players, he sets himself up for tough low % shots. He could have fouled out half the Spurs lineup if he developed a post game. Instead he was being bullied by McDyess and Bogans.

The Spurs were healthy, for the first time in how long? When everyone's healthy the Spurs are as tough as any team in the league.

He wasnt good when the games were on the line. Watch the last 5 minutes of each of the games in San Antonio. To me he is an incredible second option on a contending team. Not my choice for 1st option. 1st options put their stamp on games when it is on the line.
