Arrgh Mavs just lose already! Nothing will satisfy me more than the 2nd seed in the west losing in the 1st round.
Like I said after game 4, Dallas is going to win in 7. They are the better team and there is no way George Hill goes off again like he did in game 4...
Haha! You called me out because I was a rookie and now I'm the member and your the rookie now! Karma is a female dog! BTW, Spurs close it out in San Antonio. Manu and Duncan have big games and Dirk chokes as usual.
How are they the better team? George Hill is a pretty good player... and you're expecting Duncan and Parker to continue to struggle.
1. Dallas was one the best teams in the league after the all-star break (they went 23-7). This stretch of games is the one I consider the most relevant since it is after the Butler/Haywood trade. They play like this the whole year and they are easily a 60+ win team. 2. The Mavs were the best road team in the NBA (27-14) during the regular season. 3. Dallas would be leading this series 3-2 if it wasn't for Mydess being allowed to beat up Dirk all game long in game 4. 4. The Spurs did their damage by beating up on sorry teams. They were 9-17 against the Western Conf. Playoff teams during the regular season. For a point of reference, even our beloved Rockets did better: they went 13-18. 5. I am not expecting Duncan and Parker to continue to struggle. I am, however, expecting George Hill not to go 11-16 & 5-6 from 3 for 29 points. 6. Also, I am expecting Caron Butler to pick up his game from here on out. Not necessarily game 5 type numbers, but generally being much more aggressive on the offensive end (making it harder for SA to double team Dirk).
1. Mavs had an easy schedule after the break. 2. Yes, sure. 3. This is the playoffs, touch fouls aren't going to be common, so Dirk just needs to man up. 4. The spurs havent been this healthy all year. they made it to the 7 seed with a banged up ginobili for a third of a season, a banged up parker for a third of the season, and they were out injured if they werent banged up. 5. An average scoring game for Duncan is about 18pts, 16 for parker, 14 for hill, 20 for ginobili, 10 for jefferson. They will all get theirs, because they show up and are consistant players. 6. The mavs NEED Dirk and terry to have good shooting games or their done, butler is going to be you rock.
1. Dallas had victories over the Suns, Magic, Lakers, Heat, Hawks, Bobcats, Nuggets, Blazers, and Spurs during this stretch. Overall they were 9-5 against above 0.500 teams. Did I mention they went on a 13 game winning streak also? 3. MyDess was basically fouling Dirk every play. To top it off, the refs responded by calling an offensive foul on Nowitzki. 4. The Rockets didn't have Yao the whole year. Not to mention the injuries to key players such as Ariza, Lowry, and Battier. As a Rocket fan you should be all too familiar with this... 5. Your point? 6. Well, Butler was crap for games 2,3, & 4. The point here is that someone else besides Dirk will have to step up for Dallas to win. Whether it be Terry or Butler is doesn't matter. I just think Butler will be the one to do the job for the Mavs...
Spurs will get the help from the refs next game. no doubt. but I hope Mavs beat the crap out of them.
1. yeah so most of their wins were against non playoff teams. Beating the Magic,Lakers, Hawks, and Nuggets are they only teams worth mentioning. The other teams in the regular season were pretty bad. 3. YI dont think McDyess was fouling Dirk most of the time. Maybe your too used to Dirk getting superstar calls? And in any case, part of being a good defender is how well you foul without being caught - if the refs havent been calling it on McDyess the last few games, they wont start doing it now. 4. Im saying that their regular season performance is no indication of how good the spurs are right now. 5. Im saying that the Spurs have 5 legit scoring threats that will bring it every game and that they have to have off games from a few of these guys to drop a game at home, and theyre quite consistant players. 6.Really? I thought butler wasnt too bad in games 2 and 4, put up his average in points, grabbed alot of rebounds and got a few steals. I just dont think that Dallas dont have enough consistant scoring threats to take out the Spurs.
this is your only valid point. Dirk is really the only consistent scorer on the mavs everyone else is a dam wild card you dont know if terry will go crazy and drop 25 or if butler will. I think the mavs still have a chance to pull this out but it'll be tough beating san antonio at home.
It would take a miracle for the Mavs to win, but stranger thing have happened. It will be tough, the new guys aren't seem to clicking and their confidence is probably shattered plus the pressure is on so we'll see if they can handle it
1. Is this going to be your line of argument? That the Mavs 23-7 record and is 13 game winning doesn't mean anything because the majority of the wins came against non-playoff teams? You could say that about ANY team. 3. Actually, it was just game 4 that was really bad. I haven't had too much of a problem with the reffing in the other games... 4. Ok, I'll give you one there. They are definitely better right now then they were in the regular season. But I still see them as a team in decline... 5. Umm...none of players you mentioned has brought it every game this series. Ok, except for maybe Parker - but everybody else has been inconsistent. 6. Did you watch the game or just look at the boxscore? Butler was very tentative and passive in games 2,3, & 4. He passed up open threes, hardly took it to the rack, and didn't assert himself when the Mavs needed him to. Dallas doesn't have enough "consistent" scoring threats? Are you for real? Dallas has Dirk. All Dallas needs is one more player to go off and that will be enough.
My hatred to for the Mavs is so much higher than that for the Spurs, can't believe so many people are rooting for the Mavs....
I root for dirk. Dirk plays for the mavs so gotta root for them. If dirk played for the lakers/j*zz he's dead to me.
1. Exactly, their performance wasn't much different from any other top 8 team in the league, they just happened to have a few easy games in a row (not saying they didnt have tough oppenents within the stretch) 3. Ok, fair enough. 5. Duncan has only had 2 games in this playoff series under 25 points, Ginobili has had 3 bad shooting games but still put up points in 2 of them, and is pretty much running the PG for the spurs, Hill has only had 2 bad sub par games, and jefferson has had 3 bad games which has been expected of him. 6.Ive only missed one game this series and ive watched the rest of them live. I havent watched butler play outside of this playoff series so i just assumed this was just his playing style. But yeah, Dallas doesnt have consistant scoring threats. Terry, Kidd and Marion haven't been showing up AT ALL. Dallas is a jumpshooting team, and jumpshooting team will always have trouble being consistant. Theres no pivot man who you can dump the ball down to for easy buckets and no slashers outside of Barea and Butler.
