Verbal flopping is when a player tries to sell a foul by yelling as if he's hit even when the replays show there is no contact at all. No, most players do not do it regularly, probably because it gets a bit obvious after a while and you'd think would piss the refs off (it doesn't). Kobe does it on EVERY shot inside 15 feet (even ridiculous fadeaways). It is completely pathetic and is a serious insult to the integrity of the game, especially from someone who prides himself as an old-school player. Worse, since he is the leader of his team his actions are copied by his scrub teammates like Gasol & Bynum, who didn't used to verbal flop nearly so much. Of course, it wouldn't surprise me if this was all directives from his coach, since PJ is the all-time ref whiner, willing to do whatever it takes to buy a few cheap calls.
Why wouldn't they struggle with zone defense? They aren't constructed to beat the zone. Phoenix won't win this series because they are a worse team but their best chance in each game is to play zone as long as the Lakers allow it (which, from what I've seen all playoffs, is always). Kobe can try to penetrate through the zone but Phoenix has been pretty good at swarming him and forcing him to kick out to a wide-open Artest or Odom (who brick 2/3). The zone worked in game 2 as well (they didn't play it in game 1), but for whatever reason Gentry kept switching it back to man-to-man. I think he's resigned after this performance to use it by default, which is the smart move. If the Lakers bust it, so be it.
Cry harder.... I do agree that PHX's best chance is with the zone D.... but I don't get how you think it'll keep working. Eventually... they're going to make open shots. I'm not arguing whether it's effective or not... but the fact that it'll eventually break down because either the guards will penetrate it or that the outside shooters will make open shots. I'm sure Gentry will continue to go with it because it was successful and got them the win.
HAHAHA You didn't just say that!!! I'm sorry but that's one of the funniest things I have ever read on here!
couldn't care more? could care less? LOL You're a freaking comedian, ain't cha? Either that, or you really do care...like a carebear!
Haha truuuuuff! We suck, we should just correct eachother all the time and we can maybe make one coherent sentence!!!
Lol on Kevin Durants Facebook this was his status: "Y'all see Amare last night? He was killing it in my Nike Zoom KD II's! You can pick up a pair here: http://bit.ly/bLEzxv."
I'm guessing they're going to utilize Bynum a little more efficiently this game... If they allow Amare to get 40 again, this game will belong to the Suns. I honestly think that even with the offensive troubles because of the zone... the main focus of the Lakers should be on the defensive end... they can stop PHX. They have the personnel and the talent to play great defense, they did an excellent job in game 1... if they want to win again, they have to have the same defensive performance and the offense will take care of itself.
Channing Frye is shooting 5% from the field this series. lol. Game 1: FG 1-8, 3pt 1-7, Lakers won 128-107 Game 2: FG 0-5, 3pt 0-2, Lakers won 124-112 Game 3: FG 0-7, 3pt 0-5, Suns won 118-109 Total: FG 1-20, 3pt 1-14, Lakers lead series 2-1
They're letting this game be very physical, and that's good to see. Hopefully, it's fair officiating.
