Nope. Mavs failure was of epic proportions. 1) Mavs won an insane amount of games that year. They were # 1 overall team in the NBA. Hawks are nowhere close to being the #1 overall team. 2) Mavs had the league MVP on that team. Hawks have no one on this team who can be considered a top player in the league. 3) Mavs had been to the Finals the year before and were far more experienced than the Hawks. It will be very hard to top that Mavericks failure.
bucks arent all that dissimilar from us, jennings is quick like brooks and has a nice shooting touch, martin can score kinda like salmons but cant d up, kurt thomas didnt score but impacted the game just like chuck
Scott Skiles has the entire team committed to playing defense, its amazing. I never knew Salmons could play lockdown defense like that. I seriously wish they would just give out Co-COY awards to Skiles and Brooks. Both of them deserve recognition for their superb jobs with their teams.
Nobody gave the Bucks a chance when Bogut went down. I would be surprised if they bring Woody back as coach if they lose this series, that's how losing to a Bogut-less Bucks team is going to be perceived in ATL.
Pathetic. Pathetic. Pathetic. This team is broken. Between cheering for the Rockets and Hawks, I don't know how much patience I have left as a basketball fan. All I know is Mike Bibby is going to cause to me to have a stroke at some point. I've accepted JJ's limitations as a star and the need for a true alpha-male player on this team -- that much has been obvious for a while. But this insistence upon leaving Bibby out there as your starting PG and hinging your ENTIRE bench's productive/effectiveness based off of one guy isn't exactly a model of success. This would be like us trading our entire bench for an Al Harrington type and just accepting the fact that on nights where his shot isn't falling your bench is going to be a complete zero.
I think the Hawks losing this series would be more of a failure than the Mavs losing to the Warriors a few years ago.
It's crazy seeing some posts in this thread from Game 1, especially the 1st half where all the posters (including me) were comparing these bucks to a d-league team.
joe johnson always has scrub games in the playoffs. well, i take it back. he usually is scrubbish stat-wise for most of every series he's in. he's been pretty good this series until tonight. how do you get 13 points in a home game? v. a team that has no great defender. wasted great performances from smith and horford.
Dumping Woody isn't THE answer, but it is part of it. Getting a legit alpha leader is another part. Cutting Bibby is a 3rd part. Dumping Marvin Williams is a 4th part. In a nutshell, the biggest problems the Hawks collectively have is between the ears, at PG and coach. All of the above is true even if they win the next 2 games and advance. Woody MUST go. I've said it for a couple of years. I'm not blaming all of the Hawks problems on him, but for the Hawks to go from what happened in games 1 & 2 to losing three in-a-row is a disgrace.
