I think you are correct. It makes a lot of sense considering the following from Wiki.... They married on April 18, 2001 in Dana Point, California. Neither Bryant's parents, his two sisters, longtime advisor and agent Arn Tellem, nor Bryant's Laker teammates attended. Bryant's parents were opposed to the marriage for a number of reasons. Reportedly Bryant's parents had problems with him marrying so young, especially to a woman who was not African-American.[156] This disagreement resulted in an estrangement period of over two years, which ended when Bryant had his first daughter. The Bryants' first child, a daughter named Natalia Diamante Bryant, was born on January 19, 2003. The birth of Natalia influenced Bryant to reconcile his differences with his parents.
Didn't T-mac stay at Kobe's house at some point early in their careers? I remember reading something like that. Either way Kobe came into the league as teenager on a team with a whole bunch of veterans so I guess it was kind of natural for him to be a loner. I remember them saying Kobe would always stay at home since he was too young to go to the clubs they went to.
You do realize this is Scotty's first full year coaching right? If you think Durant showed his inexperience etc. imagine how Brooks feels. He's a small fish in an ocean. You can't expect Brooks to do what JVG or Adelman did in the past for one reason or another. Adelman and JVG are guys with decades of coaching experience and a plethora of tough playoff battles under their belt.
Why does Artest play so physical with Durant, and when Durant puts his elbow onto Artest's chest, Artest feels the need to flop his head back? Saw that play at least twice during game 2; good thing they didn't call the flop. Durant is playing too nice. If Artest gets too physical, Durant needs to sell the play a bit because if he tries to be physical back, Artest is just gonna flop.
I agree. He did hit a couple clutch 3's at end of regular season, and had some solid box score stats, but overall he's been playing poorly in the playoffs. On offense he's shooting poorly, and on defense, although athletic, he makes numerous crucial mistakes. Also - James Harden has done nothing so far for the Thunder, but he's a rookie so I guess we'll let him pass. But imagine if they got Tyreke Evans or Stephen Curry in his place...
Jeff Green = poor man's Rashard Lewis? Tweener-type, likes to shoot jumpers, solid athleticism. Am I crazy?
No, he's not like Rashard Lewis. Green plays a lot more physical, is stronger and is MUCH less gifted as a shooter. But I can understand why you would see them as similar.
That's fine, I'm not saying the Lakers shouldn't be allowed to be a little physical with Durant. But by that same token, don't whistle Durant for an offensive foul when he initiates the slightest bit of contact to try and get some separation from Gasol. The "some contact is okay" philosophy needs to go both ways, if that's the way officials want it.
He looks to me like a better version of Boris Diaw (minus the passing) or maybe a poor man's version of Jamison. In any event, I don't see the Rashard Lewis comparison.
I agree somewhat, but he doesn't necessarily take advantage of his physical capabilities as well as he should. He takes a lot of jumpers, which is why I brought up the Rashard Lewis comparison (although Rashard is more gifted as a shooter). And on defense, he's similar to Rashard in terms of size and 'tweener-ness'. Sometimes not big enough to cover the sizable 4's (Gasol), sometimes not quick enough to cover the 2/3 position (Kobe). On offense, I can't say he's like Diaw because Diaw plays so much more on the post. But I think you're right with the Jamison comparison.
Looks like a freak'n college game with the color in the arena. Good vibe until Artest started to own right from the start...
Why can't ****ing Houston, the fourth largest city in the country, have a vibe at games like OKC, Portland, etc. That crowd looks AWESOME.
