bs call on the lakers. like i said this game has been officiated poorly on both sides. still dont know why crawford still officiates games.
Can you people please stop quoting The Cat. I have him on ignore as he whines more than any poster on this board. It's always the refs every single game that goes against the team he is rooting for. Well, sometimes it's because the team that he roots for completely blows it too. He's normally a good poster with analytical abilities, but when it comes to game threads, he's very annoying.
Garnett shortarming that layup/dunk was incredibly sad and epitomizes the difference in the 2008 and 2010 Celtics.
while the celtics are playing a lot of one on one, it's amazing how little they've swarmed kobe. 2 years ago that's what they were insanely good at. both kobe and lebron that year were just suffocated by their D because they could seemingly send all 5 guys at the star and somehow rotate and cover shooters. i've never really seen anything like it from a defense. this year against lebron they weren't quite as good at it and now against the lakers, where they really have players to respect on the court, they are giving kobe an awful lot of room to operate. granted, it's just one game but if they're going to let kobe get free to the basket or to his spots this often because they can't rotate like they used to, they are going to have problems. of course, they could come out next game and be lock down but right now it seems a lot different than 2008. and i think kg just aged 20 years on that last play. i know he lost the ball, but that was like watching shaq get guarded by rasheed wallace 2 rounds ago and throw up a weak jump hook after not being able to back him down. 6 or 7 years ago shaq tears rasheed wallace in half and then tears the backboard in half on the dunk. i don't even like shaq and am not rooting for the celtics, but when the all-time greats make plays like that it's a little sad.
agree with that in that Odom deserved it BUT, with Rasheed, you never know. He yaps after every whistle, no matter the call (for or against). At some point, one little thing can send the refs over the top with him. Shoot, they may have even told him "enough"...but even if they didn't, it's bound to reach a boiling point with all his crap
Simmons speculated that Garnett took a cortisone shot before the Miami series and that the effects could be wearing off. I don't know how medically valid that is, but it makes me wonder. He was never the true KG of old, but for a while there, he was legit. But starting with Game 5 in the Cleveland series, he hasn't had any kind of lateral quickness.
It's funny, I'm watching the game on pay tv here in Europe, and during the commercial breaks, there are no commercials. The commentators (including van Gundy) think they are off the air (which they are in the US), but I can hear their comments here. They were talking about what they would do if they were Chris Rock or something, I didn't catch it all. Will try to pay more attention during the next commercial break...
