    Pierce was out one game.

Ironically that's the game that Boston won lol.

I said this on page 1, this Celtics team gives a Rox 94-95 vibe to me. Former champs who are lead by veterans who just know what it takes to win anywhere and anytime.

There is no one on that team who is capable of being the dominating player that Hakeem was in the playoffs that year.

I understand why you might say that but this is the playoffs. One could argue that happened 4 straight games with the Magic vs. Hawks.

You could be right and the Magic win 4 in-a-row, but I doubt it.

I get the same VIBE not that they are identical. They are a veteran lead team who are determined to finish the job.

But the Rockets did not have 4 hall of famers on that team, Boston DOES...

I think it's a little premature to declare Rondo a hall of famer. Or you're talking about Sheed? He's just a role player now who would suck 4 games in a row before he has a good one.

Who is the fourth HoFer? You better not say Rondo. I even have a hard time naming Allen as a HoFer considering he has never made an all NBA 1st team nor has he been an MVP candidate or won anything before he was on the Celtics. The only reason Pierce or Allen are getting into the HoF is because they luckily got paired up with KG and won a championship.

They were never in the top 3 of their position (Kobe/McGrady/AI during their primes year in and year out were all ranked higher; the all-nba team selections/MVP voting reflects that).

I would say that Pierce was certainly a top 5-10 player, and his battle agianst Lebron and Kobe easily put him in the HOF in my eyes.

Ray Allen is the greatest shooter of all time, end of story...

Kevin Garnett is self explanatory, and Rondo is WELL on his way.

A ring already, and he is a top 5 PG at the least, and how old is he?

    1) Larry Bird is far and away the greatest shooter of all time.
    2) Before the ring KG was the only HoFer on that team. Allen/Pierce had no accolades, just empty stats.

As of today Rondo has done nothing to warrant HoF consideration. Look at the PGs in the HoF's credentials then look at Rondo. We're talking about players like Isiah Thomas, Walt Frasier, John Stockton etc etc etc.

It's waaaaay too early to start putting Rondo in that conversation. He hasn't even been on the all nba first team.

We'll see. You don't count out a team that has won 28 of their last 30 games after one loss.

    Lol.

Sorry for the double post but... when was Pierce ever a top 5 player?

Players that were far and away better than Pierce in their primes:

    Kobe
    Shaq
Webber (included him because he was still dominant the first half of the decade as was Shaq)
    KG
    Nowitzki
    Kidd
    McGrady
    Iverson
    Duncan
    Nash

then the new guard came along - Wade/Lebron/Paul etc

There's a reason Pierce was a 0 time first team selection and only finished in the top 10 of MVP voting once. He was never one of the top 5 players in the league.

pierce waking up in the first game should tell you what kind of defensive performance lebron put on him.

the media was actually asking if something was wrong with pierce.

You may be right. The playoffs favor defensive teams because the refs swallow their whistles and allow a lot more contact under the basket.

The Celts are a better defensive team than that 2008 team because of Tony Allen, I was waiting to see if it was poorer offensive execution by Cleveland or better defense by Boston that was responsible for that upset in the semis by seeing how Boston played against a dominant team like Orlando that has not lost a game in the playoffs and won 28/31 of their last regular season games.

Yesterdays game showed me something about how good that Celtic defense is. I think JVG got converted to a Celtic fan watching them also when he anointed the Celts the favorites to win it all.

Yes, and the reason is not Paul's ability on the court, it was his organization, management, and teammates. His best teammate before Garnett and Ray was Antoine F'ing Walker... "He is an eight-time All-Star, four-time All-NBA team selection and also led Boston to appearances in the Eastern Conference Finals in 2002, 2008, and 2010, winning the 2008 NBA Finals. He was named the 2008 NBA Finals MVP in his first trip to the NBA Finals." Currently the third highest scorer in Celtic history, and soon to pass up Bird.

Funny how you put McGrady in that list. That is hilarious...

Stacy wishes he had Paul's career and work ethic...

The percentages do not lie, Larry Bird was NOT the best shooter of all time.

One of the greatest scorers and players for sure.

    Ray Allen
    TS%=576
    eFG%=525

    Steve Nash
    TS%=605
    eFG%=556

    Larry Bird
    TS%=564
    eFG%=514

You could have made a case for Steve Nash...

Ray Allen will end up as a top 25 scorer in NBA HISTORY...

Orlando will still win this series...

This game was a wake up call for them...the way they played no reason that should of lost by only 4 ponts...Celtics like to blow big leads

Howard Lewis and Pietrus had bad games..

Magic will make their adjustments and be ready game 2! Go Magic!

Nobody looks at how many NBA first teams a guy made when they make their HOF vote. They look at playoff wins and how did that player step up to get those wins. Rondo is well on his way to HOF career short of a horrible injury or a trade to a lottery team.
