They always say that championship teams finish quarters strong... that's twice now the Celtics have pissed away golden opportunities to come closer. In Q2, down eight with eight seconds, Ray Allen (90%) choked on a technical free throw and somehow Rondo ended up taking a contested fadeaway from 20 feet, airballing. In Q3, down nine with a chance to really get close, Pierce passes up a relatively good look to take a fadeaway 25-footer with Barnes' hand directly in his face.

Combine that with the disaster of a final possession in Q4 of Game 4, and the Celtics need to try something different for these last second plays than long jumpers off isolation. They're just not that type of team.

 

Kobe whines just as much as Perkins. I wonder how many he has?

 

Howard has a long way to go before he's in Mutombo's league of elbow power. Legend has it that Cookie Monster has taken out 4 players in one game before all with unintentional elbows. Long live Mutombo!

 

I've got a gut feeling that Stern wants the Lakers to win it all this season.

If LeBron can't win it, Kobe is the next best thing for him.

 

The league upgraded an inadvertent foul to a flagrant 1 on Dwight from the last game ... I have no faith the league will do the right thing.

 

kobe probably whines more than anyone i've ever seen and gestures about as much as anyone. he should get more techs. but lets face it, perkins isn't going to get that latitude and he knows it, so he should probably look to avoid technicals when he can.

 

I'm also puzzled why the Celts do last possession iso's. They have 4 great players and instead they hand it off to one guy and clear out. And while Pierce is a good player, I'd rather see Rondo or Allen if they insist on doing that. I knew Pierce wouldn't create nor make those shots in the last game.

 

I just think the refs should be more consistent with the technical fouls.

But with the way I'm whining about the tech's I sound like Kobe in this thread lol

yeah i couldn't believe that when they showed it earlier. it wasn't even a foul, much less a flagrant. but just like perkins, it might be a benefit of the doubt thing. just like perkins has a rep for moving picks and getting technicals, howard is getting a reputation for throwing the elbows around so he's going to be looked at differently.

i like that the nba doesn't stop games for injuries the way college does. they'll even stop fastbreaks by the other team for an injury.

 

Wow, Celts are losing people like nothing.

 

There's a good chance the league won't rescind it because they can't review what Perkins said to the ref after he walked away.
