It was a swift, intentional elbow - headhunting in both cases. Just because there wasn't a wild windup doesn't make it any less violent. They were both sudden, forceful attempts. He should have been ejected at least for the intent per NBA regulation:

"When the swing or throw is severe and deemed intentional or reckless, and there is no contact, regardless of body location, a Technical Foul with ejection will be assessed.

When a player throws any elbow at an opponent above the shoulders with no contact, a Technical Foul with ejection will be assessed. "

Irregardless of your dislike for the intended targets, he had 2 instances where he could and should have been ejected, which should be worthy of review.

    Agreed.

Dwight is known for stuff like this and it's one of the reasons I can't stand the guy. There are guys who do dirty tricks to gain an advantage and guys who talk trash to gain a mental advantage. Guys like Oakley and Xavier McDaniel were straight up with you about how they were going to play and if you had a problem with that they would come at you like a man.

Howard is a joke. He tries to hurt people purely out of frustration. A guy like Barkley (or Mutombo) would rebound and you knew if you stepped in to try to steal the ball he was going to elbow you. Dwight, on the other hand, secures the ball and tries his damnedest to throw an elbow at the defender once the play is over and the defender isn't even attempting to take the ball. To make matters worse, every time someone steps to him for his dirty play he can't get away from them fast enough.

Yep. I'm laughing at all these "experts" who are trying to pretend this is a real series now. Boston played about as poorly as they could (except for Pierce and Allen at the end) and it still took two threes (one was pure luck) by Nelson for Orlando to squeak out one victory. The Magic are pathetic. They come into game three when their backs are against the wall and quit but when the series is essentially over they come in and win on a combination of lucky shots and poor play by Boston and then pretend how mentally tough they were for coming in and winning a pointless game.

Boston ends this tonight. I expect more cheap shots from Dwight too once he realizes his season is over. Too bad the Celtics need Perkins or Rasheed or I would root for one of them to give Howard a goodbye elbow to the nose.

I think the Magic will win tonight and force game 6 @ Boston. VC will not have another 1-9 FG night , it was good to see Barnes contribute more offensively. Lewis is playing better than first few games , but he has to be more assertive on both ends of the court.

Lewis says he has viral infection

    Associated Press

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Maybe this is why Orlando Magic forward Rashard Lewis has been struggling in the Eastern Conference finals: He's been playing with a viral infection.

Lewis says he's been sick the "whole series" against the Boston Celtics.

"Overall it affects you," he said after Orlando's shootaround Wednesday. "I've been throwing up. I haven't been at full strength. I've been feeling weak, my legs been feeling weak. I find myself getting tired very fast in the first quarter. You know, when you can't hold food down you have no energy in your body to go out there and perform."

Lewis was planning to take intravenous fluids before Game 5 on Wednesday night for the fourth straight game. He said he's feeling better and expects to start, but is not completely healthy.

It has certainly looked that way.

I have a feeling Brandon Bass will be getting more minutes this game , he did a decent job last game. Bass is a type of player who doesn't mind doing the dirty work and getting physical.

I agree, he is making excuses for his pitiful performance thus far.

I used to think Howard gets all his blocks because he is a freak athlete.. Now that I pay attention he is blocking most of his shots with his left hand which is a huge advantage against right-handed players. Nice technique!

Boston needs to get their bigs into the flow... taking a lot of outside shots... which they have made, but legs won't be their in the 4th quarter
