DH averaged 18.5 points in the playoffs over his career. Why 20 points is disappointing for him?

Lots of times, it's not about facts, but rather how you present it.

Howard >>>>>>>> Yao right now, because Yao can't play with a broken foot.

Can we go back to Celtics vs Magic now?

The proper way to make the comparison, looking forward, is neither to assume Yao is 100% nor to assume Yao gives you nothing. You have to consider expected production.

Dwight Howard is an established big minutes + 82 games player. Yao may play close to 80 games next year, but his minutes will likely be slashed to barely 30 mpg. And further, with Yao, there's always the potential of him missing a huge chunk of the season with some sort of leg/foot injury.

So, with all the risk considered, a team would probably take Yao over (say) Glen Davis. But over Dwight Howard? No way, unless there's a non-basketball reason for it.

Well, maybe you should check who started to talk about healthy Yao. I was simply pointing out, if you want to talk about a healthy guy, don't use his injury to dis him. Fair?

yao vs dwight arguments are meaningless at his point.

we dont even know how yao will return and when he returns where he takes this team.

nothing but a bunch of if's right now.

at least wait till yao comes back and then compare.

Yes please. Pretty fun game, especially with:
    * Jesus Shuttleworth hitting crazy 3's
    * Kevin Garter-net tossing the ball into the sixth row on the key possession
    * Nelson driving the ball, relentlessly
    * overtime
    * [NOT] Big Baby's facial expressions. (ewwwwww. no camera please.)

My apologies. Should have read all the posts first.

I am just tired of the vicious cycle.

DH Fan: Dwight is better than Yao

Yao Fan: Yao is better when healthy

DH Fan: Yao is on the bench, so DH>> Yao

Yao Fan: Let's assume Yao is healthy

    DH Fan: Okay

Yao Fan: [facts], so Yao is better

DH Fan: **** you, Yao is on the bench

    sigh.......

lol Bruins-Flyers series was similar to this...

    Boston goes 3-0

Philly wins game 4 in OT then goes on to win the next 3 games... and Philly beats them 4-3.

Who gives us a better chance of going deep into the playoffs and contending for a championship next year -- Dwight Howard or Yao Ming?

I'm sure a good portion of this board would vote Yao, though it may be a minority. Not sure if that includes you or not.

World must be small.......1.3 billion fans, somebody must like Yao.

I always find it funny how offensive people get when people are proud of there kind and will support them no matter what.

    Funny Logic

Yao could have cyborg implants in his broken foot, and I'd still trade him for DH.

I don't even know whether Yao can play next year; if he plays, I don't know for how long he can play; if he plays 25-30 mins, I don't know how good he can play. Of course Howard would give us a much much better chance.

Seriously, how could you be sure a good portion of posters here would pick the current Yao over Howard.

One thing I would like to clarify to you and some other posters though, fans want Yao to stay in Rockets, are ALL Rockets Fans. Fans want Yao gone could be Rockets fans, could be YOFs, could be YOHs, with different interest.

YOFs don't have an obsession with Houston, they don't gain anything if Yao stays. They would probably rather have Yao play in New York.

    Simple logic.
