Agreed. I do think you kinda are overrating the gap between the two though. Jameer's definitely a better player because he's a much better shooter, but on a bad shooting night, he's basically the same player as Rafer without the ability to reliably run an offense. Brings nothing else to the table.

    Gotcha.

I'd still say that it was 95% Hedo and a lesser version of the Celtics they faced last season.

In other words, the Magic probably look better right now with a Nelson/"Hedo of last season" combination but still come up way short against this version of the Celtics.

I remember people all talking last season about Hedo was doing everything and acting as the PG. Hedo independently was awesome in the playoffs. You could have put him with a healthy Nelson, Williams or Rafer and probably gotten the same results.

Orlando should have kept Turkulo, Vince Carter wasn't the right guy.

    How dare you.

    Malone/Stockton, Barkley, Robinson, Shaq.

Now THAT'S an impressive title run. Also, they were the top four teams in the league, by record.

My only thing is that I don't think Rafer was "running the offense" with Hedo around last season.

Hedo was "running the offense" in the truest sense of the term.

Rondo is "running the offense" for the Celtics.

    LeBron runs the Cavs' offense.

Rafer largely did for the Magic what he did for the Rockets. Dribble the ball up the court and hand it off to the real playmaker on the perimeter 95% of the time. That to me is not plus-PG play. It's bench-level PG play that just happens to be in the staring lineup and allowing your wing to act as the PG.

DH is so useless. You wonder nowadays there is no "best center" anymore.

The difference in this series is NOT Hedo lol. It's Howard - WTF happened to him?

    Pretty much.

Yao would be the best center, but he is always injured.

Dwight would be the best center, but he sucks.

I'd agree except Carter and Nelson have been the best players on that team this series.

Are you even watching the game tonight?

Has there ever been a playoff season where so many star players suffered major blows to their reputation?

What do you mean, Howard is who he always was, if a defender is strong enough to push him away from the basket he is useless......Kendrick Perkins and Big Baby are strong.

Howard is not a go to guy on offense and the magic game plan is is not worthy of a championship. Plus they over paid a role player name rashard lewis.

You're right, but he got tha ball up and had everyone place for the PnR sets faster than Nelson. Nelson is a better shooter. i think the latter is more valuable, but if he's not gonna be a scorer, he needs to get them set up earlier in the clock. They need almost all 24 secs against this D.

The thing about the Celt's D is that it pretty much negates Jameer's shooting advantage over Rafer, and since he's not a driver, he really needs that seemingly simple skill Rafer had at getting the team's O going faster.

Watching the Magic makes me wonder one thing: Who's sleeping with who's Mom in Orlando?

lol @ JVG "If Carter had Kobe's will...." Kobe's competitive attitude is borderline insane. Can't really expect that of Vince. A better question would have been, "If Carter wasn't such a wuss..."

I see what your saying, AR. I would say that they could've gotten that then by just replacing Nelson with Jason Williams. I think we just slightly disagree on the signficance of what Rafer was doing. I think any replacement level player could bring what Rafer brought last season by simply doing next to nothing.

When KG slammed into SVG in front of the Magic bench, how much would you guys have paid to see JVG lose his cool, jump over the reporter's table, charge at KG and grab him by the leg? Some kind of freak flashback.

That would have been epic even though it wouldn't happen in the wildest of scenarios. Just an entertaining thought.

SVG with either Lewis' mom, or Howard's mom. Or both at the same time.

    Go Stan!
