unless we advance deep in the playoffs, the team is NOT going to resign tmac and that's a good thing. we've experimented long enough. when his contract is off the books, we can make a run at another perimeter superstar. hopefully by 2 years from now and we still are first round and out, we let tmac go and have the money to sign somebody big. then trade yao for 2 good players. bam no need to rebuild.
if by 2 years from now and we are still having the same results, BOTH must go. tmac will be 32. yao will be 30-31. no need to keep 2 guys who still have not gotten out of the first round in their 30s. even if we don't trade yao, we shouldn't give him the max contract (but like you said, i doubt les will do anything but appease to yao)
I think some of the posts above are a little optimistic... we have 2 injury prone superstars, and it would not surprise me if Yao had an injury that hobbled him significantly in the next 2 years. I frankly dont see tmac, or yao playing like superstars after 2010-2011 (tmac may still be able to pass like the *****, but thats about it) its either we win in the next 2 years, or we blow it all up and rebuild from scratch
