Chris Carter and Tim Brown are arguably the 2nd and 3rd best receivers of all time (at least statistically). So what you are saying is that if they are not Jerry Rice, wide receivers do not deserve to be first ballot players?

Glad to see Grimm. Skill players are way over-represented and Grimm was part of perhaps the most dominant unit in the history of the NFL.. what other O-line could win 3 Super Bowls with 3 different quarterbacks?

I don't see it like that at all. I think its more like Carter and Brown weren't on par with Jerry Rice during their careers so they shouldn't enter the Hall of Fame together. Basically no other receiver is in the same class as Jerry Rice on the football field and now no other receiver in his class on this Hall of Fame. If Jerry Rice wasnt eligible this year its highly likely that Brown and/or Carter wouldve gotten in.

I think it will be interesting to see what happens with WRs in the future as the game has become more aerial in the past 15 years. By the numbers, there are many players whose career numbers may approach Brown's and Carter's (I honestly can't see anyone being Jerry Rice good for 15+ years) but I do see the NFL Hall of Fame as being particularly selective and I doubt they would want to include so many players that werent necessarily "game-changing"
