Tim Brown was my favorite player growing up, 100 career touchdowns, I believe something like 4th all time in Receiving Yards... He won't get in this year or the next year but I'm hoping eventually he does make it in.

    He was special.

How Haley and Cris Carter were not inducted is just stupid.

Very emotional speech by Emmitt Smith.

Jerry Rice the greatest WR of all-time.

Joe Montana and Jerry Rice the best combo ever!

He's maybe the best football player of all time.

I really wish the innovator of the "all air attack" would've made it. I know he'll get in eventually though. Also, I can't really argue against the picks, all are very worthy.

How the hell did Shannon Sharpe not make it?
    99 TDs
    3rd All-Time in Receptions
    2nd All-Time in Yards

If he does not get in on the first ballot, I don't know what receiver would.

No doubt Shannon Sharpe and Tim Brown will make it in the next year or two...

I think they're "snubs" are just a way to "rank" the HOF guys. Obviously your first balloters are the guys who you can argue are the greatest ever. Congrats to Emmit and Jerry.

Yeah, Carter basically spent the last half of the '90s logging 100-catch seasons, and helping Qadry Ishmail and Jake Reed do the same.

Jim Brown is the greatest player of all time. Reggie White probably best defensive player.

(of course I'll be the one to say indicate in the title WHAT Hall of Fame it is for ;) )

There's been a lot of prolific receivers the past couple decades. Tim Brown and Chris Carter will set the pace for future candidates like Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, Ochocinco, etc. I think Randy Moss, Terrell Owens and Marvin Harrison are locks.

Surprised Andre Reed hasnt made it. Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas are in. He made more Pro Bowls than them. He was as much a "triplet" as Aikman/Emmitt/Irvin and Manning/Edgerrin/Harrison. I guess he never had that ONE big dominant year like the others had.

    Not that Houston fans care

I don't know much about the NFL, but is their HOF as much as a joke as the NBA's HOF?

I don't think so. As someone else mentioned, Sharpe didn't get in, and he was an absolute beast.

Pretty surprised that Sharpe didn't even make the cut to 10 finalists...he was really the first of his kind at the Tight End position and turned it into much more of a pass-catching position.

isnt it kinda unfair to put someone like Rice (GOAT) with guys who were just great? I mean I know it sounds stupid ("just great"), but there should be some higher distinction within the HOF or something, because some guys are beyond anything we have ever seen.

First-Ballot HOF distinction is reserved for the "All-Time Greats"

Cris Carter, Tim Brown, Andre Reed are all guys who deserve to be in the Hall of Fame, but will have to wait a while because of the "We don't need to many WRs in the same" class BS.

    This.

You can't have a Cris Carter, Andre Reed, Tim Brown etc inducted at the same time as Jerry Rice. You just can't. It lessens Jerry's HOF career. He deserves to be there as the only receiver of this class. He's the greatest Football player ever.... bar none IMO.
