If Eisenhower wasn't a chickensh!t on Civil Rights and JFK had survived his fill first term I'd say yes. He's directly responsible for the dumbest war in American history; but something tells me any of those WWII vets running the country would've done the same thing.
4 dollars for a cupcake is stupid...but you guys should try out Crave in Houston @ uptown park. Damn good...and a good place to go with a chick, so 4 bucks makes it worth it.
Pretty sure every black person with a tee-time or hotel/restaurant reservations of any kind would disagree.
Was thinking about these subjects today at work. About the "old" days of entertainment. There's always been scandals, casting couches, etc since the beginning, but at least performers had to work hard in the craft they were in. All people like the Kardashians do now is subject themselves to doing stupid mundane crap for attention. How the heck do they get red carpet treament? Drew Barrymore was a wild child, but is there any doubt that she's good at acting? Performers were validated by the simple fact they were TALENTED. Now its the people "have what you don't have" (money, looks, guts). Doesn't matter what the quality is, as long as something "more" than most people. Celebrities very much overrate themselves, true. Its laughable how people like Lady Gaga let the fame get to their head and start doing antics they'd NEVER do as regular person. But people are always going to pay attention to what other people are doing. Doesnt have to make them deities in your eyes, but someone out there will get a disproportionate amount of attention.
85% of US homes have either cable or satellite. I'd say add another 5% that have internet only with nothing else (me included). So thats an overwhelming majority of the country. Complain about the quality of programming and station offerings, sure.Complain about rising prices sure, consumers right a right to do that. Good doesnt have to mean gouge. But people REALLY take cable or paid programming for granted. I bet if there was a US ban on all television and internet programming for 3 months, the country would go absolutely BERSERK. People need the cable TV more than they need the overseas oil. The actual television set might be more overrated than the stuff they show on it, cuz you can watch that stuff on other items now.
there was a great Sousa-esque march from 1941, one of John Williams' finer moments: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/s_hP9_-DB_8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/s_hP9_-DB_8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
