Lol. I can picture Yao and Shaq both guarding the paint. Even the craziest/bravest slashers wouldn't want to go in there. Unfortunately, Shaq would probably run over Yao or step on his foot at some point.

i'd love Dyess, but he's still technically a PF and undersized C, which we have wayy too many of already. Nice addition, but doesnt really solve the height issue.

That's right. We can't play any center for 40 minutes for consecutive games, not to mention some of those stretches are 12-15 minutes.

He's a good post defender, and he's a very good rebounder. Height isn't everything. I think he'd be a great addition.

As far as FA's are concerned.the chances of getting anyone is very low. We don't have salary cap room and the two most talented players on the team are injured.
A sign and trade using McGrady's contract is the only realistic option that we have, and that is not going to be easy by any means.

Trade yao for al jefferson. Al might not be better, but he is younger and he is a better rebounder.

I agree it isn't, but i think we need to cover all areas instead of stockpiling similar players. Undersized centers can do well with good effort most of the time, they can rebound well throughout a game like dyess and our guys do, but i'm worried about that final game, like today, when it's time to lay it all on the line and you know BOTH sides are bringing it, in those games both side will give the effort so rebounds almost become jump balls on each end, its much harder to just box out someone and guarantee a rebound then, especially when going up against quality big men.

Don't see him opting out of his contract. He wouldn't be a bad addition as a low post defender, if he weren't so inconsistent.

He probably will opt out, I'm sure he would like money but I don't think Houston will be the team offering tons of money.

Kwame is a pretty key player for a contender if you ask me. He's not as bad as people make of him anymore.

I really like that Shaq/Nash idea. That would basically have us going for it all...which I don't mind, since we have been in win now mode since the Battier deal. Nash is a very good closer and he is a master at running the offense, unlike Brooks. Bye-bye to that fronting garbage. Lowry is still a solid backup, and it's not like Nash is any worse defensively than Brooks. Plus with our attacking style, and another monster who draws FT's in Shaq...we would be even deadlier to close games with two great FT shooters (Yao and Nash).

Pipe dream unfortunately. Well, who knows. Could Brooks value really be that high right now?

And if we didn't win they are both free agents that summer anyway...so hell, start over.

Yeah, how sweet it would be to have Shaq and Yao be on the same team. The only way to beat us is to make 18+ footers every time, LOL. Portland's Twin Towers vs. Houston's "Don't even think about coming to the paint b****es!"... :D

Backup center is definitely a top priority. I think Marcin Gortat from the Magic would be a suitable fit here, but after his solid performance as the 2nd or 3rd big man for Orlando, he'll probably be locked up.

the nash/shaq trade is a bit risky due to shaq's age, but i think we could get at least two more solid years from both and we could realistically get a ring each year..

Anyone like Andre Miller from Philly as starter or backup.
He averaged 16 points and 6.5 assist at 36 minutes a game.
He made ten mil this season but I think we can get him for cheaper possibly.
I know we do not have much cap space but we have mid level and possibly a sign and trade or something. Also, the market is going to be down I think just like baseball and considering most teams are looking for the 2010 free agent class not to many teams are going to be active either. Just wondering.

If you saw Ron's post game interview, it seemed obvious that he has intentions of staying with the team. He kept using phrases like "I can see them develop" and "I can be there".

I personally see no reason to not keep him, and it seems like this city and this team has done him more good than anything in his life. I doubt he'll demand a max contract, especially when he realizes he is the third fiddle of the squad.

if he stays we need someone who's not going to defer to him, someone who can get in his face and not ask, but tell him he needs to stop shooting bad shots...it seems like the team always talks about it, they know it's a problem, yet they all let him happen throughout games, they brush it off as ron being ron, but he capable of holding back and someone needs to control him during games. I can't see Yao doing it or any of the young guys though and i dont think Ron would be affected by shane getting in his face. It's like we need a pitbull for the pitbull :p
