    Official: Offseason Random Trade Thread

I guess its never too early to put on the Wizard Morey hat and start making random trade ideas.

I shall begin with the most obvious one that comes to mind after watching the Rockets this season. TRADE McGrady ASAP. He has lost the what little desire and willpower he had in him, now only the venom of an aging disgruntled player will poison the chemistry the rest of the team has going for them.

Naturally at this stage trading T-Mac could become very hard for the Rockets not unless the Rockets package him with some young talent for something of identical market value. Thus I suggest we do the follwoing.

    Trade to Milwaukee
    Tracy McGrady
    Von Wafer

    In exchange for
    Michael Redd
    Dan Gadzuric

For the Rockets this trade works because you got that consistent outside shooter we desperately need at the expense of losing McGrady's versatility and playmaking. Currently Ron Artest is not going to cut it as our 2nd option so we need an offense first type of pure shooter who can score from mid range and beyond. Yao will always command double team and recent emergence of Scola as legitamate low post threat will make him a priority for the defense. In such case we need good but albeit one dimesional shooter that can make defense think twice before stuffing the low post. His contract is 2 more years at 35 mil total is a heavy swallow but then again you can't trade Tmac's cap figure of 23 mil without taking something as big in return. Redd is an overpaid max player, we all know it but he has skills that can become very valuable when put on the right team and given the right role. We would be putting him in a position similar to what Celtics did to Ray Allen by giving him a role where he is naturally comfortable as your outside threat.

i think the best linup for rockets would be.

    trade tmac for lebron
    trade cook for cp3
    trade brooks for kobe

i think this is pretty realistic. /end sarcasm

I have to say these are really good trade suggestions, im liking the vc and Yi deal, it gives yao more of a reason to stay with the team and it gives us a good SG. Tmac lowry and cook for VC dooling and YI.
I wish we could get Luol deng somehow like a sign and trade but i feel like Chicago will keep ben and salmons and miller, they arent going anywhere for sure.

I dunno if this has been mentioned... but Yi Jianlian is supposedly looking to go somewhere else.
    He's 7 foot.
He would work well with yao.
He could fit in the RA offense.
    He could play backup C.
    He's young.
    He's cheap. I believe Salary 2009: $2,986,080

I wonder this too. TMac's contract is killing the Rockets but he won't.

That's a failed trade... who wants Beno Udrih? I'd rather have T-Mac as a chucker than Kevin Martin.. At least T-Mac can still make plays for other ppl, Kevin Martin just chucks it up.

As for Lowry, he drives a lot, draws fouls, has the strength to convert 3pt plays.. Udrih is the opposite, he settles a lot, he's not as good of a finisher as Lowry.

I'll take a guy who chucks it up to the tune of 45% FG% and 39% 3P% for his career.

See... there's an issue here. If he is a chucker, Yao will NEVER get the ball. The role players won't get the ball.. I'm not saying he's going to be Ron Artest, but I can't see him getting the amount of shots he gets in Sacto. He'll be greedy, he's young... he already knows he's a star scorer in this league. It's hard to find players these days with the mentality pass first and score second when they aren't the PG.

What do people think about trading Brooks+whatever for the rights to Rubio?

I agree as for Kevin Martin and McGrady. Kevin is at this stage of his carrer where he doesn't care about winning. He wants to have the ball in his hands and SCORE the ball. 30-30 points, that's what he wants to do. I don't think he would be a good fit for contenders.

But I actually like Udrih. He is a nice player. I know he can shoot, he can pass but he can also drive. Sure, he is not that type of aggressor that Lowry is but I still like him. I don't know if he plays defense, though. Does he?

As for Lowry, when we made that trade bringing him to H-Town for Rafer I kinda became a big time Lowry fun. But after Lakers and Portland series I see his weaknesses.

    1) He doesn't always finish under the basket. He has tendency to miss easy layups.

    2) He is not a consistant midrange shooter.

    3) He has no 3-pt game and teams (like Lakers did) are gonna leave him WIDE OPEN. And what's important, he has to take those shots because those are the shots you want, good looks. But he is not even close to making them. He will have to work on his jumper during the summer.

The positive side is, he is YOUNG. He can only get better.

    Before July 1st

    McGrady + Brooks + Cook/Hayes to SUNS for Nash + J-Rich

    After July 1st

McGrady + Lowry to BUCKS for Jefferson + Gadzuric + Ilyasova (S&T $3-4M)

    http://www.draftexpress.com/article/NBA-Draft-Roundup-May-24-3227/
*Bucks do not have the salary space to re-sign CharlieV and Sessions. If they opt for CharlieV, Lowry might be good trade bait.

McGrady to NETS for Carter + Lopez (trade bait for taking on Carter's contract)

McGrady to PACERS for Dunleavy (possibly similiar or longer term recovery than T-Mac) + Murphy

McGrady to KNICKS for Lee (S&T $9-10M) + Mobley
*T-Mac is an one year rental superstar. They get something back for Lee if they're considering to let him leave in order to preserve their 2010 salary space. Lastly they have T-Mac's bird rights a guarantee of sorts to avoid egg on their faces if they do not come away with one of the prized 2010 names.

    McGrady to HAWKS for Childress (S&T $8-10M /yr for 1 or 2 yrs) + David Andersen ($5M/yr for 2yrs) + Claxton

McGrady + Lowry to HAWKS for Johnson (If he refuses a contract extension) + David Andersen + Claxton
